The AIM EVM is an adorable two-seater city vehicle featuring a targa roof and boasts a reported driving range of 75 miles.

This electric vehicle is part of the “Ultra-Compact Mobility” category in Japan.

Shiro Nakamura, the designer of the R35 Nissan GT-R and the 350Z, created its design.

The compact EV will be available for purchase in Japan's Okinawa Prefecture, with a starting price of ¥1,900,000 ($12,500).

Japanese engineering company AIM, recognized for the EV Sport 01, has introduced the new EVM, a fully electric two-seater intended for urban use, resembling a blend of European heavy quadricycles and Chinese minicars.

Designed by SN Design Platform, led by former Nissan design chief Shiro Nakamura, the vehicle's exterior draws inspiration from Shisa, the guardian deity of Okinawa. Its body features sleek curves and minimal overhangs, while the round lights resemble bulging eyes. A removable targa-style roof, consisting of two pieces that can be stowed in the trunk, is another notable feature.

The size of the AIM EVM is smaller than that of the original Smart ForTwo, measuring 2,485 mm (97.8 inches) in length, 1,295 mm (51 inches) in width not including mirrors, and 1,560 mm (61.4 inches) in height. It is also very lightweight, weighing in at 646 kg (1,424 pounds).

Despite its small dimensions, the interior accommodates two passengers along with their luggage. The dashboard is equipped with a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen and two digital displays positioned centrally. There are several physical controls located on the center console and steering wheel for essential functionalities.

Powered by a single electric motor that generates 19 hp (14 kW) and 70 Nm (52 lb-ft) of torque, the EVM is restricted by the "Ultra-Compact Mobility" regulations in Japan from being driven on highways, with a maximum speed capped at 60 km/h (37 mph).

Energy is stored in a 10 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, providing a driving range of 120 km (75 miles). Recharging the battery fully takes 5 hours using a 200V outlet, and an external power supply port is included as standard.

The AIM EVM is set to launch in Japan's Okinawa Prefecture this summer, with plans to expand nationwide. The company aims to sell 1,000 units annually, with a starting price of ¥1,900,000 ($12,500).
