Kia Reduces Cylinder Count in the 2027 Telluride, but Prices Remain Unchanged | Carscoops
The 2027 Telluride features a new design, additional trims, and a turbo engine, with prices starting over $40,000 when destination fees are included for the base model.
The base price for the 2027 Telluride is $39,100, plus a destination fee of $1,545.
Kia has replaced the old naturally aspirated V6 with a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine.
The hybrid model will deliver 329 horsepower and 339 lb-ft of torque.
The immensely popular Kia Telluride has entered its second generation, showcasing a new design, updated interior, and additional engine options. However, this comes with an increase in price, as buyers must now spend over $40,000 for the base model when accounting for destination fees.
Previously, the entry-level Telluride LX started at $36,390 before destination fees, whereas the new 2027 Telluride LX begins at $39,100, along with a $1,545 destination charge. This marks a significant increase, but it’s important to note that this is a complete redesign, not merely a facelift.
Kia has enthusiastically responded to demand for variety, offering the 2027 Telluride in eleven different trim levels, catering to a wide range of buyers.
The familiar S FWD and S AWD models are still available, now starting at $42,090 and $44,090 respectively, an increase from 2025's pricing of $39,390 and $41,390. The EX FWD and EX AWD trims are also making a return, now beginning at $43,790 and $45,790, which is a smaller increase compared to their predecessors that started at $42,090 and $44,090.
The X-Line EX AWD continues, priced from $47,290. Higher in the lineup, buyers can choose the SX FWD at $48,790, the X-Line SX AWD at $51,790, or the X-Pro SX AWD at $53,690. The top-tier options include the SXP AWD at $53,890, the X-Line SXP at $54,890, and the fully equipped X-Pro SXP AWD at $56,790.
The engine that characterized the previous model, the naturally aspirated V6, has been replaced. Kia now offers a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine generating 274 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque (421 Nm). While this is a decrease in horsepower compared to the former 291-hp V6, the increase in torque by 49 lb-ft (66 Nm) should enhance everyday driving responsiveness.
Those seeking more power or better fuel efficiency might consider waiting for the upcoming Telluride HEV. This hybrid variant will pair the same 2.5-liter turbocharged engine with electric motors and a 1.65 kWh lithium-ion battery, resulting in a combined total output of 329 horsepower and 339 lb-ft of torque (460 Nm), providing a notable performance boost.
Kia also presents a variety of dealer-installed and factory options for customization. Among the add-ons are a $625 towing package, $255 all-season floor liners, $395 cross bars, $799 black side steps, and a $390 auto-dimming mirror.
