Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis made it clear upon his return to the brand this summer that significant changes were on the horizon. The reintroduction of the Hemi V8 was the first order of business, and concurrently, Ram announced plans to enter NASCAR in 2026. We have also known for a while that the TRX is making a comeback, and I had assumed it would retain the previous supercharged Hellcat V8, possibly with some modifications for enhanced power. However, Ram has just teased a performance model set to debut on New Year’s Day, and I’m fairly certain there’s a turbocharger sound in the background.

Check out the video quickly so we can continue speculating:

Desert winds don’t whisper… they roar. Get ready. 01-01-26

That certainly doesn't sound like a supercharger. While it could theoretically be an unrelated sound effect, it closely resembles a turbocharger spinning at high RPM, which I find hard to dismiss. So what exactly is Ram planning here?

There aren’t many context clues available for us to analyze. The teaser caption states, “Desert winds don’t whisper… they roar. Get ready. 01-01-26.” At the same time, the phrase “Power Will Be Reborn” appears on-screen. It's difficult to formulate a definitive conclusion based solely on these hints.

Ram has never factory-equipped any Hemi V8 with a turbocharger previously. While the RHO desert truck features a twin-turbo inline-six, if Ram brings back the TRX with anything less than a boosted V8, I’d be willing to shave every hair on my body. And trust me, nobody wants to see that.

Is it possible for the TRX to come back with a turbocharger instead of a supercharger, or is it something different?
