A design sketch of the next-generation Chevy Silverado has emerged through a U.S. Patent and Trademark Office filing, hinting at a complete front-end redesign featuring a split lighting arrangement, different from the current version, as well as a more angular hood.
Car and Driver was the first to spot the new design, sourced from a patent application approved on December 9, having been filed on August 12, 2024. A closer look reveals that Chevy seems to be embracing the modern trend of LED daytime running lights and dipped beams positioned lower on the bumper. Consistent with typical truck styling, there is an expansive grille between them, with horizontal accents running through the upper section to accommodate the recognizable bowtie emblem.
At the rear, the taillights have undergone a shape transformation. In the existing model, there’s a section just above the midpoint where the lights are recessed. However, in the upcoming model, this ridge transitions more smoothly towards the top, where it extends along the side of the bed. Whether intentional or not, it reminds me of the F-150, particularly the Lightning (RIP) and the earlier generation, which was in production until 2020.

Full-size pickups generally have a similar aesthetic, leading to a merging of styles over time. GM and Ford continue to compete fiercely, with both asserting that they offer the top truck in the nation. They are both correct, though it hinges on how the figures are interpreted: the F-150 is the highest-selling single nameplate, while GM combines its truck sales under the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra, and collectively, their total surpasses the F-150's.
A representative from Chevrolet contacted The Drive, stating, “GM regularly submits filings to the US Patent Office to safeguard our intellectual property, trademarks, and technologies. These filings do not necessarily reflect future products. We cannot provide comments on speculation regarding future merchandise.”
Regarding this new Silverado, it is expected to be introduced sometime next year. You can view the complete filing below.
