Audi’s smallest electric vehicle has been spotted undergoing testing ahead of its 2027 launch.
This new SUV will fit beneath the Q4 e-tron and may be named either Q2 or A2.
It is built on the same MEB+ platform as the VW ID. Polo and ID. Cross.
We've heard plenty about Volkswagen's upcoming generation of ID. electric models and their new MEB+ platform. Today, we get our first glimpse of Audi's plans for utilizing this platform to create its smallest EV to date.
This compact electric SUV is intended to fit below the ID.4-sized Q4 e-tron in Audi's lineup starting in 2027, and it seems reasonable for it to be called Q2 e-tron. However, some have proposed the name A2, and it is easy to spot some resemblances between the classic aluminum-bodied A2 subcompact from the early 2000s and this prototype, especially from the side.

The Q2/A2 appears wider, lower, and sportier than the original A2, featuring a more aggressive windshield angle and a roofline that slopes down more sharply after the C-pillars.
The original Audi A2 was manufactured from 1999 to 2005.
Additionally, the compact EV showcases a split-headlight design and door handles similar to those seen on upcoming Q7 prototypes, resembling the handles on a Ford Mustang Mach-E. Strangely, they also evoke the small ledges once found above public urinals in the 1980s, though it's unlikely that this was the intended inspiration.
At the rear, there appears to be more A2-inspired design, with a high-level spoiler bisecting the rear window. However, given that it is 2025 and not 2000, we also see a transverse LED light bar instead of vertically arranged lights in each corner.
While not visible, it is highly likely that an illuminated four-ring Audi badge is located beneath the “brake test” sticker on the prototype.
In contrast to the larger Q4 e-tron, which uses the older MEB platform shared with vehicles like the ID.4 and ID. Buzz, the Q2/A2 will utilize the newer MEB+ architecture. It is expected to include a single front motor, powering the front wheels (as single-motor MEB cars usually feature rear-mounted motors). Based on information about MEB+ models like the ID. Polo, it could offer around 280 miles (450 km) of range and have 223 hp (226 PS / 166 kW), achieving 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in under seven seconds.
