Bugatti Brouillard W16 Revives the Chiron | Carscoops

The one-off Bugatti Brouillard resembles a coupe variant of the W16 Mistral roadster, utilizing the carbon chassis and W16 engine from the Chiron.

Bugatti’s Programme Solitaire allows elite clients to request bespoke hypercars from the ground up. The Brouillard is constructed on Bugatti’s older W16 chassis, delivering 1,578 hp with a uniquely tailored design. Only two ultra-exclusive custom creations will be produced each year through this new initiative.

Update: Following its debut at ‘The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering’ in California last August, the one-off Bugatti Brouillard has now arrived in Europe for its debut at the Wheels Marienwaerdt event in the Netherlands. To celebrate the occasion, Bugatti has released a new set of images highlighting their latest model.

If you examine the gallery closely, you’ll notice a unique companion piece: a specially designed version of the Bugatti Baby II, created by Hedley Studios to reflect the Brouillard’s aesthetics. Displayed next to the full-scale vehicle, this miniature added an extra layer of intrigue to Bugatti’s showcase.

While Bugatti may be venturing into a new era with the hybrid Tourbillon, it is not quite ready to retire its iconic W16 engine. The latest one-off model, called the Brouillard, is powered by the same quad-turbocharged 8.0-liter W16 engine that characterized the now-defunct Chiron.

This distinctive build is also the first to emerge from Bugatti’s new Programme Solitaire coachbuilding initiative, honoring Ettore Bugatti’s favorite horse. It will be publicly unveiled at the Monterey Car Week in California, followed by more one-off Bugatti creations.

Designed for Dutch entrepreneur Michel Perridon, who possesses the world's largest private Bugatti collection along with Carlo Bugatti’s furniture and sculptures by Rembrandt Bugatti, the Brouillard is a striking combination of traditional engineering and tailor-made craftsmanship. At first glance, it may appear to be a coupe version of the limited-run W16 Mistral, but a closer look reveals that nearly every panel has been specifically customized.

      Unique Design, Classic Foundations

At the front, the Brouillard boasts a sharply sculpted bumper with a wide horseshoe grille and fender-mounted LED headlights complemented by additional cooling intakes. The profile features the characteristic C-shaped openings behind the greenhouse, with large sections of carbon fiber trim contrasting with the vibrant green hue.

The rear fenders aggressively flare out, leading to a custom rear deck that includes a roof scoop. At the back, an integrated ducktail wing smoothly merges with the rear design, enhancing both downforce and visual impact. The X-shaped LED taillights appear to be borrowed from the W16 Mistral, while the quad tailpipes on the rear diffuser are more aligned with the Chiron Super Sport.

      Bespoke Cabin with Artistic Touches

Inside, the cabin retains the general layout of the Chiron, but nearly every detail has been personalized. A green color scheme prevails, featuring custom-woven tartan fabrics from Paris, green-tinted carbon fiber, and a blend of leather and machined aluminum finishes.

A standout feature is the handcrafted sculpture of the Brouillard horse, set in a glass insert on the aluminum gear shifter. Horse motifs are also embroidered into the door panels and seatbacks, emphasizing the car's equestrian inspiration.

The Brouillard is built on the carbon fiber and aluminum chassis of the Chiron family, which is also utilized by the Divo, La Voiture Noire, Centodieci, W16 Mistral, and the track-only Bolide. It is powered by the most potent version of the quad-turbo 8.0-liter W16 engine, producing 1,578 horsepower (1,177 kW or 1,600 PS).

      More Bugatti One-Offs To Follow

Though the Brouillard is unique, it marks the beginning of Bugatti’s new Programme Solitaire. This initiative takes personalization a step beyond the existing Bugatti Sur Mesure program, creating exclusive models for a select few with ample financial means.

The company stated that the program “will create a maximum of only two masterpieces” each year, ensuring each build receives the attention and craftsmanship it warrants. Staying true to the brand's coachbuilding heritage, the one-offs will utilize existing Bugatti powertrains and chassis.

As a result, options will be limited to hypercars based on either the Chiron or the Tourbillon, complemented by customized exterior and interior designs.

Hendrik Malinowski, Bugatti's Managing Director, commented: “The Programme Solitaire allows us to authentically explore the unique visions of our clients, giving us more flexibility to interpret long-established Bugatti design elements. With a one-of-one model, we have much greater freedom in rethinking what a Bugatti is while maintaining our unwavering commitment to perfection in
