The Chinese version of the crossover is 7 inches longer and features captain's chairs in the second row.

Tesla has launched the new Model Y L in China, a long-wheelbase variant.

It measures 7 inches longer than the standard crossover and offers a six-seat configuration.

With an additional cost of $3,550, the Model Y L boasts updated styling and a larger screen.

Long-wheelbase models are favored in China, and Tesla has embraced this trend with the Model Y L, designed for larger families.

In terms of dimensions, the electric crossover measures 195.9 inches (4,976 mm) in length, 83.8 inches (2,129 mm) in width, and 65.7 inches (1,668 mm) in height. This makes the Model Y L 7 inches (179 mm) longer than the standard version and 1.7 inches (44 mm) taller.

Despite its larger size, the Model Y L remains easily identifiable. It features a modified greenhouse, elongated rear doors, and distinctive 19-inch wheels, alongside a more prominent rear spoiler.

Interior updates include a transition from a 15.4-inch infotainment system to a larger 16-inch display. Notably, it now has second-row captain's chairs equipped with heating, ventilation, power-folding armrests, and a power-folding seat function.

The heated third-row seat appears a bit cramped but can fold flat with the push of a button. Additionally, the vehicle includes rear air vents and cup holders.

For those prioritizing cargo space, there’s 89.7 cubic feet (2,539 liters) available, which is 14.2 cubic feet (401 liters) more than the standard Model Y.

Other significant features comprise a panoramic glass roof and acoustic glass for a quieter cabin, complemented by an 18-speaker audio system and an 8-inch rear display.

Tesla has shared limited powertrain information but confirmed that the Model Y L comes with a dual-motor all-wheel drive system and a CLTC range of 467 miles (751 km). It can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph (0 to 100 km/h) in 4.5 seconds, which is 0.2 seconds slower than the smaller model.

Due to its larger size, it’s expected that the crossover weighs an additional 212 lbs (96 kg), bringing its total weight to 4,603 lbs (2,088 kg). To accommodate this increase, the Model Y L features an "upgraded suspension" that ensures smooth and precise handling in corners and on different surfaces.

The long-wheelbase version starts at ¥339,000 ($47,199), which is only ¥25,500 ($3,550) more than the all-wheel-drive Model Y. It comes equipped with standard features like Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Warning, and Lane Departure Prevention, with two driver assistance packages available for further enhancements.
