Certainly, the new AUDI E5 EV is incredibly affordable in China | Carscoops
The new E5 Sportback merges luxury elements, significant power, and advanced technology with surprisingly affordable pricing.
Just 17 hours ago, it was reported by Brad Anderson that the base model comes equipped with a 76 kWh battery and a rear motor that generates 295 hp (220 kW).
AUDI’s most range-oriented variant boasts a 100 kWh battery, offering an impressive range of 480 miles (773 km).
At the pinnacle of the lineup is the Flagship Quattro version, which features dual motors and delivers 776 hp.
A few months following Audi's introduction of the all-electric E5 Sportback in China under its new all-caps AUDI brand, pricing details for the model have been finalized. As is typically seen with new electric vehicles in China, the E5 is priced surprisingly low, even amidst the country's competitive market.
The strategy is straightforward: merge German engineering and manufacturing excellence with the cutting-edge technology that has become synonymous with Chinese automakers.
The E5 will be available in four distinct versions: the Pioneer, Pioneer Plus, Pioneer Quattro, and Flagship Quattro. The starting price for the base Pioneer model is 235,900 yuan, or $32,800. This version features a rear-mounted electric motor that produces 295 hp (220 kW) and is outfitted with a 76 kWh battery pack, claiming a range of 384 miles (618 km) according to the CLTC cycle.
Next in line is the Pioneer Plus. While it maintains the rear-wheel drive configuration, power is elevated to 402 hp (300 kW). It also comes with a larger 100 kWh battery pack, increasing the price to 269,900 yuan ($37,500) and extending the range to 480 miles (773 km).
Also starting at the same price is the Pioneer Quattro. This variant is equipped with a smaller 83 kWh battery but features dual motors that generate a combined 518 hp (386 kW), achieving a range of 387 miles (623 km) on a single charge.
The Flagship Quattro model begins at 319,900 yuan ($44,500), which remains very competitive. It includes a 100 kWh battery, provides 402 miles (647 km) of range, and delivers a remarkable 776 hp (579 kW), allowing it to accelerate to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.4 seconds.
All AUDI E5 Sportback models come with standard features such as LiDAR, three millimeter-wave radar units, 11 cameras, and 12 ultrasonic sensors for an advanced driver-assistance system.
The interior of the new EV features a massive 59-inch screen that spans the entire width of the dashboard, incorporating displays for the digital side mirrors. For an Audi, the cabin presents a minimalist design, adorned with soft-touch leather and Alcantara, and includes two wireless phone chargers.
E5 Sportback deliveries are expected to commence next month. Currently, this model is exclusive to China, though its combination of pricing, power, and technology may make it an attractive candidate for export if demand proves strong.
