The new Frontier PRO-4X R features a 2-inch lift and 17-inch wheels fitted with robust Hankook tires.

Nissan and Roush have unveiled the 2026 Frontier PRO-4X R, which showcases an off-road-oriented suspension that offers a 2-inch lift. Priced at $47,960, this truck incorporates updated styling and headrests with embroidery.

While the Ford Ranger Raptor may be regarded as the top pick in the mid-size truck segment, Nissan is entering the fray with a new contender, having teamed up with Roush Performance, known for their expertise in tuning Ford vehicles. This collaboration marks their first effort together in the creation of the 2026 Frontier PRO-4X R.

As indicated by its name, this model builds upon the Frontier PRO-4X but has been enhanced by Roush. The truck now comes with a titanium skid plate, titanium grille inserts, and titanium badging, along with striking Lava Red tow hooks and Roush badges on the front fenders.

Although the interior modifications are minimal, the model includes special headrests bearing embroidered “R” logos. Furthermore, drivers can expect a 12.3-inch infotainment system alongside a 7-inch display in the instrument cluster.

The standout upgrade is the entirely new Roush Performance x Ohlins 2.0 Off-Road Suspension System, which delivers a 2-inch (51 mm) lift. This system features upgraded upper control arms, coilover shocks with external reservoirs, and lightweight aluminum damper bodies, resulting in improved approach and departure angles as well as enhanced damping control off-road.

Regrettably, the 3.8-liter V6 engine seems to remain unchanged, offering a power output of 310 hp (231 kW / 314 PS) and 281 lb-ft (381 Nm) of torque, which falls short compared to the Raptor’s twin-turbo 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 that generates 405 hp (302 kW / 411 PS) and 430 lb-ft (582 Nm).

In summary, the 2026 Nissan PRO-4X R by Roush starts at $47,960, which is $6,090 more than the standard PRO-4X but $8,110 less than the Ranger Raptor. It is also priced lower than the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 as well as the Jeep Gladiator Mojave and Rubicon.
