Despite having three rows of seats, the Renault Triber is shorter than the Clio.

Renault has introduced the updated Triber model for the Indian market.

This minivan showcases a more aggressive front design and a refreshed interior.

It is equipped with a 71-hp 1.0-liter engine and has a starting price of approximately $7,300.

While Renault has been consistently broadening its hybrid and electric offerings in Europe, its approach in India is still heavily focused on internal combustion engines. A main contender in this market is the Renault Triber, a compact minivan with crossover characteristics, which has recently undergone a mid-cycle update.

The revision brings a more polished exterior and several noteworthy enhancements inside, aimed at maintaining the model's competitiveness in the expanding budget-oriented segment.

The facelift arrives six years after the original model's debut. The previously familiar and friendly front, featuring a grille inspired by the Megane, has been substituted with a sharper, more assertive design. Although the shape of the headlights remains similar, they now have updated internal graphics and integrate more seamlessly into a slimmer grille that displays Renault’s latest emblem. The front bumper has been redesigned with more rugged styling elements, including silver accents surrounding the central air intake, and the hood now features more pronounced creases.

From the side, changes are minimal. The profile mostly remains the same except for a new design for the 15-inch wheels, an optional contrasting black roof, and decorative elements that mimic protective cladding. At the rear, modifications are also modest. The taillights have a smoked finish with new LED graphics, accompanied by a black trim strip on the tailgate and a slightly altered bumper.

      More Features, Same Practicality

Inside, the updated Triber adopts the dashboard from the mechanically-related Kiger SUV. This includes a taller-mounted 8-inch infotainment touchscreen alongside a 7-inch digital instrument cluster. Additional updates feature beige upholstery, a newly designed climate control panel, and several welcome enhancements such as wireless phone charging.

The practical three-row seating arrangement remains intact, accommodating up to seven passengers. However, due to the car's sub-compact dimensions, the third row is most suitable for children or short journeys. For those who need more cargo space, the rear rows can be folded down to expand the boot to 625 liters (22.1 cubic feet).

      Renault India

Though the Triber is classified as a three-row minivan, it measures 3,985 mm (156.9 inches) in length, which makes it shorter than the Renault Clio hatchback. The Indian model shares its CMF-A+ platform with the Renault Kwid and Kiger, as well as the Nissan Magnite. Unfortunately, the mid-cycle update does not include any changes beneath the surface.

Under the hood, the Triber is powered by a naturally aspirated 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine, producing 71 hp (53 kW / 72 PS) and 96 Nm (71 lb-ft) of torque. Renault has yet to offer the turbocharged option available in the Kiger. Buyers can choose either a five-speed manual or a five-speed AMT, both of which direct power to the front wheels.

      Affordability Remains Key

The refreshed Triber is now available for order in India, with prices starting at ₹6,29,995 ($7,300) for the base Authentic variant. The highest trim, called Emotion, is priced at ₹9,16,995 ($10,614). As demonstrated in the accompanying video, the base model features steel wheels and does not include a touchscreen, focusing instead on essential features for budget-minded consumers.
