      That is poised to change this August at Monterey Car Week when Mecum Auctions presents a rare 1958 Chrysler California Ghia. Its sweeping, sculpted lines stand in stark contrast to anything currently in Chrysler's lineup.

      Chrysler's collaboration with Ghia began in 1949, driven by dwindling sales and a desire to revamp its traditional design approach. The partnership thrived, resulting in numerous show cars introduced over subsequent years that helped reshape public perception of the Chrysler brand.

      Among the most notable Chrysler-Ghia creations is the 1958 California Ghia. This two-door, four-seater boasts an elongated body and an aesthetically pleasing design that has aged remarkably well. The front showcases an eye-catching oval wire grille with chrome framing, complemented by matching headlights.

      Ghia crafted the car's flowing fenders and a rounded hood to infuse the California with Italian elegance. Additionally, it features a curved windshield and slender A-pillars. The absence of B-pillars enhances accessibility for rear-seat passengers.
