An imminent refresh of the compact Mercedes-Benz sedan promises to be quite striking if the prototypes are any indication.
Caught in prototype form with what seems to be production-ready lighting, the 2026 Mercedes-Benz C-Class will introduce illuminated star designs in both the headlights and taillights.
These design elements appear to be inspired by the larger mid-sized E-Class taillights and the smaller CLA-Class.

The light camouflage on the prototypes indicates that the changes to the next C-Class will primarily involve updated front and rear fascias. Additionally, new side mirror caps equipped with cameras are visible for the surround-view camera system.
We'll have to wait to see the modifications inside the C-Class, but anticipate an enhanced infotainment system that aligns with the current Mercedes lineup.
At present, the existing C-Class comes with a standard 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine combined with a mild-hybrid system generating 255 horsepower. Rear-wheel drive is standard, with all-wheel drive available as an option. It’s doubtful that the base powertrain will change significantly.
However, AMG versions will reintroduce the V8 after Mercedes acknowledged its oversight with automotive enthusiasts. The current AMG C63 features a turbocharged four-cylinder hybrid powertrain, which is powerful but lacks the emotional resonance typical of its predecessors. Performance without character stirs little enthusiasm.
The revised C-Class is anticipated to debut this year as a 2026 model, soon followed by the electric variant.
