The first-ever Bolide is anticipated to sell for up to $6 million, despite having only been driven 389 miles on track.
Number 1 of 40 Bugatti Bolides is set for auction on August 15.
This will be the inaugural public auction of the track-focused, 1,600 hp hypercar.
It may reach as high as $6 million, despite its 389 miles of usage.
Vehicles like the Bugatti Bolide exist in a league of their own. They are indeed rare, boasting performance metrics akin to real race cars, but their appeal extends further. Acquiring one is challenging even for those with substantial finances, not only due to their limited production but also because of the business practices of such brands.
It’s not a scenario where a bunch of wealthy individuals are refreshing a screen to secure a purchase. These cars were sold privately by Bugatti before the public ever had the chance to see the concept. Now, for the first time, one is going to public auction, allowing anyone willing to pay the right price the opportunity to own it.

The only drawback is that purchasers won’t be able to drive it away, as the Bolide is exclusively a track hypercar. Bugatti designed it as a thought experiment: what if it were not bound by the regulations that restrict models like the Veyron and Chiron from reaching their full potential? In pursuit of that idea, the Bolide delivers 1,600 horsepower (1193 kW), 1,180 lb-ft (1598 Nm) of torque and weighs only 3,086 pounds (1,400 kg).
This combination allows it to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in a mere 2.2 seconds, with an electronically capped top speed of 236 mph (379 km/h). Bugatti claims simulations indicate it could complete a lap at the Nurburgring in 5:23.1. While that’s an astonishing figure, we’ll wait to see it validated; nonetheless, it is undeniable that this is an exceptionally fast and significant car.
As one of only 40 units and the very first production model, this specific Bolide is particularly extraordinary. It showcases a livery that reflects the original concept, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires, center lock wheels, and seats integrated into the car's structure. Additionally, it has recorded 389 miles, indicating some usage on the track.
Interested bidders can view the official auction page from Gooding & Company here. The auction will be part of the brand's Pebble Beach event during Monterey Car Week. When it was new, the Bolide was likely priced around $4.8 million and is projected to sell for approximately $6 million when the gavel drops. That represents a substantial return for owning (and occasionally using) one of the most significant Bugattis ever.
