A high-performance variant of the Bentley Continental GT Speed has been spotted near the Nürburgring.

This enigmatic model showcases aerodynamic enhancements and could potentially bring back the Supersports name.

Details about the vehicle are limited, but it presumably boasts more power than the 771 hp GT Speed.

Though Bentley is known as an ultra-luxury brand, it has a rich racing history and doesn’t hesitate to showcase it occasionally. It seems that moment has arrived once again, as spy photographers have captured a hardcore prototype that may be a Continental GT Speed RS or Supersports.

Resembling a matte black powerhouse, the prototype takes design cues from the standard Speed, but features canards and a large rear spoiler. It also sports a distinctive four-tailpipe exhaust system, replacing the conventional oval configuration.

Further details reveal black wheels that appear to come from the standard model, likely measuring 22 inches. However, these specifications could change before production starts.

While the design alterations are subtle, the enhancements are geared toward performance, indicating that this mysterious model will exceed the Speed and offer an even more extreme driving experience.

We can expect to learn more about the prototype in the upcoming months, but the conventional Continental GT Speed is powered by a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine that generates 591 hp (441 kW / 600 PS) and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) of torque. Additionally, it features a plug-in hybrid system with a 25.9 kWh battery and a 188 hp (140 kW / 190 PS) electric motor.

This setup yields a combined output of 771 hp (575 kW / 782 PS) and 738 lb-ft (1,000 Nm) of torque, allowing the all-wheel-drive coupe to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 3.1 seconds, reaching a top speed of 208 mph (335 km/h). It also boasts a WLTP electric-only range of 50 miles (81 km).

      To provide context, the 2017-2018 Continental Supersports featured a twin-turbo 6.0-liter W12 engine producing 700 hp (522 kW / 710 PS) and 750 lb-ft (1,017 Nm) of torque. It could reach 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.4 seconds and achieve a maximum speed of 209 mph (336 km/h).
