Only 300 units of the track-oriented M4 CSL variant were brought into the United States.

This M4 CSL is coated in Frozen Brooklyn Grey Metallic, accented with bright red details.

The vehicle was bought for slightly over $145,000, but it has already depreciated in value.

The BMW CSL reduces weight and boosts power, delivering 543 hp from a turbocharged inline-six engine.

For those watching rare BMWs that aren't just left idle in climate-controlled garages, there seems to be a shift in the market. The M4 CSL, previously a hot item for collectors, is starting to sell for less than its original price, potentially creating an opportunity for selective buyers.

Production of the BMW M4 CSL was capped at just 1,000 units worldwide, with only 300 arriving in the U.S. Despite its rarity and clear appeal as a collector’s item, recent sales indicate that prices are declining. In fact, one unit recently changed hands for less than its original MSRP.

Earlier this week, a Frozen Brooklyn Grey Metallic model was sold for $135,000 on Bring a Trailer, with only 203 miles (327 km) on the odometer. While that's a significant amount, it's worth noting that a new M4 Competition xDrive can be purchased for $89,400. Nevertheless, the sale price reflects a $10,395 reduction from the initial sticker price of $145,395.

This M4 CSL was obtained by the selling dealership earlier this year and boasts an appealing specification. Its matte paint is complemented by bright red accents on the side skirts, hood, grille, and roof, and it sits on 19- and 20-inch forged wheels finished in matte black.

BMW implemented several weight-saving measures in the CSL, utilizing more carbon fiber and stripping down the interior. Inside, it features stunning M Carbon bucket seats upholstered in black Merino leather with red highlights and illuminated CSL logos. The rear seats have been removed, and the interior has extensive carbon fiber, much of it still covered in protective film.

Since the CSL was released before the G82 M4's recent update, it does not include the BMW Curved Display. However, it does come with the same detailed LED taillights as the updated G82, along with an enlarged rear ducktail spoiler.

Increased Power Without a Manual Option

BMW's engineers tweaked the M4's engine to produce 543 hp and 479 lb-ft (649 Nm) of torque in the CSL. Like the standard version, this engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission that powers all four wheels. If BMW had offered the M4 CSL with a six-speed manual, it likely would have been more sought after.
