Volvo has announced new updates for its complete lineup for the 2026 model year.
All vehicles will feature an enhanced infotainment system with a new user interface.
Adaptive cruise control will be standard across the entire 2026 lineup.
Volvo has recently unveiled the updated XC60 and has now shared additional enhancements for the 2026 model year. Most of these improvements are technology-related, with some benefiting current vehicle owners.
Beginning with a next-generation user experience, dubbed the Volvo Car UX, this upgraded infotainment software is already present in the EX30, EX90, and refreshed XC90, but will now be available in all new Volvos for 2026.
Furthermore, it will be rolled out to existing vehicles equipped with Google built-in through an over-the-air update, affecting approximately 2.5 million cars – some of which date back to 2020. Volvo indicated that the update will be available for specific versions of the C40, XC40, EX40, EC40, S60, V60, V60 Cross Country, XC60, S90, V90, V90 Cross Country, and XC90.
While the company did not provide extensive details about the UX, they mentioned it has been designed to “simplify complex tasks.” They noted that real-world data and customer feedback were utilized to ensure that owners can interact with their vehicles in a safe and enjoyable manner.
Aside from software updates, the 2026 models will also benefit from an infotainment hardware upgrade powered by Qualcomm, which is expected to make Android Automotive-based infotainment systems more than twice as fast as previous versions. Customers can anticipate enhanced responsiveness and graphics generation that is up to ten times faster.
Additionally, Volvo will make adaptive cruise control standard in its entire U.S. lineup, a welcome and likely overdue feature considering the company’s premium market positioning.
Other highlights include two new color options named Aurora Silver and Forest Lake. The XC40 will also receive a new Black Edition styling package, similar to the one available for the XC60, which will feature black wheels, black badging, and a black grille.
