Chinese consumers will soon have access to the fully electric EZ-60, which boasts a range of 373 miles based on the (somewhat lenient) CLTC cycle.

The electric Mazda EZ-60 will come equipped with a Li-Po battery and deliver 255 hp.

It appears to be popular in China, with Mazda recording over 18,000 pre-orders.

Last month, Mazda unveiled the EZ-60 crossover at the Shanghai Auto Show. The initial emphasis was on the range-extended version, set to be marketed in Europe as the CX-6e. However, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China has now provided various details regarding the all-electric model.

In terms of design, the appearance is not surprising, closely resembling that of the range-extended crossover. It incorporates split lighting units, a fully enclosed grille, digital side mirrors, flush-mounted door handles, and a substantial amount of plastic body cladding.

We were already aware of this – the noteworthy information is the performance specifications. According to the Chinese ministry, the EZ-60 will feature a 255 hp (190 kW / 258 PS) electric motor capable of reaching a top speed of 115 mph (185 km/h), along with a lithium iron phosphate battery and a curb weight of up to 4,806 lbs (2,180 kg).

While many details remain undisclosed, Mazda previously stated that customers can expect a CLTC range of approximately 373 miles (600 km). For context, the rear-wheel-drive Tesla Model Y offers 368 miles (593 km), while the all-wheel-drive variant achieves 447 miles (719 km) under the same overly optimistic Chinese driving cycle. Additionally, Mazda noted that the BEV version of its crossover will feature a 47:53 front/rear weight distribution, in contrast to the 50:50 distribution in the range-extended model.

Although that's not a lot of information, Mazda has indicated that they received over 18,000 pre-orders since the EZ-60's introduction last month. However, it's important to note that pre-order figures do not directly translate to actual sales; they merely reflect public interest. Furthermore, anyone could place a pre-order by paying a deposit that started at just ¥10 ($1.39), which is quite minimal.

Nonetheless, the EV is expected to offer an upscale cabin with a 3D heads-up display and a 26.45-inch screen. We can also anticipate an AI assistant, a 23-speaker audio system, and zero-gravity front seats that come with eight massage modes.
