A new variant of Aston Martin's SUV has arrived, and it is the most powerful to date.
The DBX S utilizes an upgraded version of the AMG-derived 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, producing 707 horsepower (717 bhp) and 664 lb-ft of torque. This increase in power comes from turbo technology taken from the forthcoming Valhalla supercar, which features larger compressor wheels and various internal enhancements that provide increased performance at higher revs.
The latest DBX still employs a nine-speed wet-clutch automatic transmission, although the shift points in auto mode have been adjusted to better align with the “extended rev range.” In Sport and Sport+ modes, downshifts have become more pronounced.
On paper, the performance specifications are not significantly different from the 707—in fact, the 0-60 time of 3.1 seconds and a top speed of 193 mph remain unchanged—however, the S is expected to offer a sportier driving experience and improved dynamics on the roads.
With lightweight options, the S can shed nearly 104 pounds compared to the 707, which will still be available. The optional 23-inch magnesium wheels are claimed to be a world first for any production SUV, reducing unsprung weight by nearly 42 pounds and enhancing ride quality and steering response (23-inch forged aluminum wheels come standard). A single-weave carbon fiber roof is the largest of its kind ever used on an Aston Martin, trimming almost 40 pounds from the vehicle's highest point. An optional lightweight polycarbonate front grille also contributes to weight savings.
The DBX S features a steering ratio that is 4% quicker, enhancing responsiveness and decreasing the turning radius by 1.6 feet. A modified exhaust with vertically stacked quad tips reportedly enhances the sound of the V8.
However, perhaps the most striking enhancements in the S are cosmetic. Aston Martin has given its SUV a more aggressive, almost hot hatch appearance, featuring red trim inspired by the Honda Type R and Hyundai N models, along with large 23-inch wheels that wouldn’t seem out of place on a lavishly modified GTI Golf.
Inside, the DBX S showcases Alcantara and leather surfaces, along with a distinctive herringbone pattern on the seats. The Aston Martin logos have been embossed and debossed into the headrests using a groundbreaking technique involving 1.6 tons of pressure.
If this piques your interest, the order books for the 2026 Aston Martin DBX S are now open, with deliveries expected to start in the fourth quarter of 2025.
