The new Porsche 911 GT3 RS has completed a lap of the Nurburgring in 6:49.328, proving its cornering capabilities. You might assume navigating some low-speed bends on a public road would pose no challenge. However, losing control at about 30 mph seems implausible unless there’s significant recklessness involved, which unfortunately describes this driver whose mischief far exceeded their driving abilities. That's the only explanation for how they managed to run the $242,000 race-ready sports car into a tree.

In an Instagram video posted by devgeetsgeegaa, the 911 GT3 RS accelerates aggressively at what appears to be a gathering. It spins its wheels initially before gaining traction and speeding through the first segment of an S curve. The driver does not ease off the accelerator through the first turn, as the engine can be heard revving, but they eventually back off upon realizing they miscalculated the first corner—at least considering their driving skills. This causes the rear of the car to swing around for the next turn, at which point the driver officially loses control.

Even after losing control and drastically slowing down, the driver seemingly did not apply the brakes. Instead of stopping, it appears they attempted to regain control by turning the wheel toward the road while keeping their foot on the accelerator. This action caused the notoriously rear-biased Porsche to swing back onto the curb and into the grass. You would think at this juncture, the driver would recognize it was time to brake. However, instead, clouds of dirt were kicked up as the 911 GT3 surged off the curb and crashed into a tree.

Surprisingly, the Porsche was in better condition than anticipated afterward. Supercar.fails shared a clip on Instagram showcasing the damaged GT3 RS up close. Since only the front driver’s side corner made contact with the tree, most of the front remains intact. Admittedly, it will need a new bumper, possibly a new hood, an entire driver’s side front suspension, and a new wheel. Additionally, the rear passenger-side wheel will also need replacing—jumping the curb damaged it. Nevertheless, the situation could have been significantly worse.

There is no information regarding the driver's condition, but considering it was a relatively low-speed collision and the front airbags appear to have deployed, they likely had a good chance of escaping major injury. Hopefully, this serves as an embarrassing lesson in vehicle control and restraint. Perhaps the 911 GT3 RS will evolve into a fascinating project car on Copart.

If everyone outside the car had ample time to yell and shout before the Porsche struck the tree, one would assume the driver had sufficient time to apply the brakes.
