The four-door 2026 A6 sedan, which will be available in Europe alongside the station wagon, draws design elements from the A7.

Audi’s new generation A6 Sedan is set to debut in the US in the latter half of 2025.

The A6 maintains its traditional sedan profile and features a sharp front design similar to the Avant.

Customers in the US will be offered a non-hybrid V6 engine producing 362 hp, along with quattro all-wheel drive and a dual-clutch transmission.

Audi has officially introduced the latest iteration of the A6 sedan in Europe, unveiling a more streamlined and sophisticated model that joins the versatile A6 Avant, which will not be sold in the US. Despite ongoing global trade issues and high import tariffs, Audi has confirmed that the new A6 sedan remains on schedule for its US launch in the second half of 2025.

Visually, the redesigned A6 sedan displays a sleeker, more aerodynamic silhouette, taking cues from the A7 fastback. The prominent singleframe grille and angular LED lighting at the front are inherited from the Avant, while the unique notchback rear design significantly aids aerodynamic efficiency. The outcome is a more sculpted appearance that embodies Audi’s progressive design approach while respecting its executive sedan lineage.

Audi’s Most Aerodynamic Internal Combustion Model to Date

The newly designed roofline, along with air curtains, a splitter, and a rear diffuser, are not merely for aesthetics. With a drag coefficient of just 0.23, the new A6 sedan stands as Audi's most aerodynamic internal combustion engine model. This figure slightly surpasses the A6 Avant’s 0.25 rating, offering the sedan a technical edge in airflow efficiency, which is expected to improve fuel economy and reduce highway noise.

In Europe, Audi will provide the new A6 with both gasoline and diesel engine choices. The 2.0 TFSI and 2.0 TDI four-cylinder models will come with mild-hybrid technology, while the 3.0 TFSI V6 will remain non-electrified.

For the US market, the options are simpler. American consumers will have access to the enhanced 3.0-liter TFSI V6 engine, producing 362 horsepower (270 kW / 367 PS) and 550 Nm (406 lb-ft) of torque through a 7-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission. Quattro all-wheel drive will be standard, with an optional sport differential available for the rear axle.

      Platform and Features

The A6 range is built on the PPC (Premium Platform Combustion) architecture, also utilized by the smaller A5. Similar to the A6 Avant, the Sedan will optionally offer adaptive air suspension and all-wheel steering, with alloy wheels ranging from 19 to 21 inches in size.

Inside, buyers can expect an 11.9-inch digital cockpit and a 14.5-inch infotainment touchscreen, with the option to add a 10.9-inch display for the front passenger and a head-up display. Additional optional features include a Bang & Olufsen audio system with up to 20 speakers, a four-zone climate control system, and a door-closing assist feature.

Audi states that sound insulation has been enhanced by up to 30% compared to the previous generation, improving comfort. Additionally, the trunk offers a capacity of 492 liters (17.76 cubic feet), which is smaller than the competing BMW 5-Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class.

Production has commenced at Audi’s Neckarsulm facility in Germany, which could lead to significant pricing issues for the US market if the 25 percent import tariffs stay in effect. In Europe, the A6 sedan starts at €55,500 (approximately $62,800), with deliveries anticipated to begin this summer. US customers will need to wait longer, as the launch is planned for later in the year.
