Twin Two-Stroke Hartman Go-Kart For Sale Definitely Needs Ear Protection
Bring a Trailer
Go-karting serves as an entry point to more advanced (and pricier) forms of racing. Speed enthusiasts need a starting place, and due to their affordability and accessibility, go-karts remain a favored choice. However, don’t assume these small open-wheel vehicles are merely slow thrill rides. A classic go-kart with two engines is currently available on Bring a Trailer for those seeking enhanced performance.
This meticulously restored 1977 Hartman Blue Streak Sprint go-kart features two Yamaha KT100 100cc engines. The seller acquired it in 2022 and has spent the past couple of years refurbishing the kart to its current state. This Hartman model is being sold with no reserve price out of Southern California.
The Hartman go-kart is equipped with Walbro carburetors, Tomar centrifugal clutches, RLV expansion chambers, Burris Racing engine mounts, an MCP rear disc brake, an OTK clear fiberglass seat, and an Azusa steering yoke. It has 5-inch silver front wheels and 6-inch black rear wheels, fitted with Hoosier racing slicks still in their original protective plastic. The Yamaha engines have also been recently tuned in preparation for the sale.
According to the listing, the Blue Streak model debuted in 1973 and came in two versions: sprint and enduro. Longtime karting aficionados Van Deusen Motorsports estimate that around 500 Blue Streak sprint karts were produced before production ceased in 1984. The BaT listing is for chassis number 2540.
Within the karting community, Hartman products are recognized for their tubular steel frames, front disc brakes, rack-and-pinion steering, and ergonomic design. Twin-engine models are particularly favored among collectors and vintage racing enthusiasts, as having two engines provides better speed and power.
There is a slight condition, however. The seller mentions that battery-operated starter motors are needed to start the go-kart. While these can be purchased from the seller, they are not included in the kart sale, and the listing does not specify their cost.
The auction concludes on Thursday with a current highest bid of $3,200, though this figure is expected to rise. Previous auctions of refurbished Hartman karts on BaT have featured one that sold for $7,250 in 2024, and another that went for $10,500 in 2022.
