The system will be provided by several VW Group brands, enabling hands-free driving.

In the near future, cars built on the MQB platform will receive an enhanced Level 2+ semi-autonomous driving system.

This upcoming system will feature hands-free driving, traffic jam assistance, and parking assistance.

Volkswagen's MQB-platform vehicles are set to become significantly more capable due to a new collaboration with Valeo and Mobileye, which will facilitate the introduction of an improved Level 2+ semi-autonomous driving system.

Scheduled for launch in the next few years, the system aims to enhance safety and comfort in high-demand vehicles. This should be beneficial for both consumers and the manufacturer, as it allows for streamlined procurement across various brands. This means lower costs and reduced complexity while providing customers with more advanced functionalities.

Although specific details are still limited since the system is not yet available, the companies have indicated we can anticipate hands-free driving on designated highway segments, as well as traffic jam support, parking assistance, and a comprehensive emergency assist system. Additional features will include hazard detection and future-ready options like compatibility with augmented reality displays.

While these details remain somewhat vague, it seems that eyes-on, hands-off driving on select roads at speeds of up to 81 mph (130 km/h) will be part of the offering, along with automated lane changes to enhance the relaxation of long drives.

These features will be enabled by a "360° ring" of cameras, radars, and sensors, complemented by Mobileye’s new Surround ADAS platform, an EyeQ 6 High processor, and advanced mapping technologies. This will be the first instance of such components being integrated into a single system, allowing for multiple ECUs to be replaced by a centralized unit, which is expected to boost efficiency and performance.
