Lingenfelter's Impressive 7.0L V8 Delivers 704 HP to C8 Corvette Without Using Turbos | Carscoops
Lingenfelter's enhanced LT2 produces an impressive 577 hp at the wheels and 704 hp at the crank.
Recently fitted into a Corvette E-Ray, this engine enables the C8 to achieve 577 hp and 439 lb-ft of torque.
Lingenfelter has incorporated a new rotating assembly, a custom camshaft, and new pistons.
The upgraded 7.0-liter V8 has been calibrated to function seamlessly with the standard eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.
While the Chevy Corvette Stingray may not boast the striking appeal of the Z06 or ZR1, the base model remains powerful. Equipped with a 6.2-liter V8, it can impress even the most discerning car enthusiasts. However, for those pondering, “What if this had a bit more power?”—Lingenfelter has a solution.
The tuner has upgraded the C8’s LT2 V8 to a much more powerful version, introducing a new 7.0-liter variant that produces significantly more power, accompanied by a notable price tag.
The 7.0-liter LT2 engine was first revealed last March and is now available to customers for $29,950. It has also been shown demonstrating impressive performance on the dyno. While many tuners typically rely on forced induction for increased power, Lingenfelter deserves recognition for opting for the classic naturally aspirated approach.
Installed in the engine compartment of a Corvette E-Ray, this engine achieves 577 hp and 439 lb-ft (595 Nm) of torque. Before you judge those numbers, remember they are measured at the wheels. Considering a typical 20% drivetrain loss, this translates to approximately 692 hp at the crank. According to Lingenfelter, the engine delivers 704 hp and 600 lb-ft (813 Nm) on 91 octane pump gas.
As this specific C8 is an E-Ray, it also includes an electric motor at the front axle that adds an extra 160 hp and 125 lb-ft (169 Nm) of torque, resulting in all-wheel drive. This means the vehicle generates a total of around 860 combined horsepower, making it an absolute powerhouse.
Lingenfelter didn’t merely install a larger engine and call it a day. The 7.0-liter LT2 features a new forged rotating assembly, a custom camshaft, upgraded connecting rods, new pistons, and custom in-house cylinder heads. Additionally, it is designed to work harmoniously with the original eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, ensuring smooth operation as you harness all that extra power.
