Kia EV2 Concept Offers a Glimpse of a Compact Electric SUV Set for 2026 with Unique Design | Carscoops
The Kia EV2 will be positioned against competitors such as the Jeep Avenger and the Mini Aceman in the entry-level B-SUV category in Europe.
The Kia Concept EV2 outlines the automaker’s vision for an upcoming electric B-SUV.
This compact electric vehicle features a sleek exterior and a futuristic interior emphasizing practicality.
The production version is slated to launch in 2026, targeting the European market as well as other regions.
Kia is rapidly broadening its electric vehicle range, covering more segments than ever. The latest addition is the Kia EV2, a compact electric SUV scheduled for a 2026 release, primarily aimed at European consumers. It was first introduced as a concept during the 2025 Kia EV Day in Barcelona, showcasing what the production model will entail.
The Concept EV2 represents "the brand’s vision for a future all-electric B-segment SUV." Serving as the zero-emissions counterpart to the Stonic, it will be the smallest vehicle in Kia’s EV lineup until the eventual introduction of the Kia EV1, which will be comparable in size to the Picanto.
A Blend of Fit and Flair
The compact size of the Kia EV2, which is smaller than the EV3, will allow it to cater to the lower market segment. It will compete with electric alternatives such as the Jeep Avenger and the Mini Aceman. The exterior of the concept showcases playful proportions and a contemporary design that includes features like quad headlights, rugged plastic cladding, and slender, low-set taillights.
The production version of the EV2 is anticipated to closely resemble the concept, although with some simplified elements. Based on previous Kia models, we expect the final design to incorporate thicker pillars, larger mirrors, and flush door handles.
Modern Interior, Practical Features
The concept features a four-seat configuration with an emphasis on practicality. The rear suicide doors, absence of central pillars, and flat floor enhance accessibility. By folding the back seats and moving the front bench backward, passengers can unwind, stretch out, or sit on the floor when the car is parked.
Additional unique features include triangular portable speakers on the doors, a wireless charging pad on the lower dashboard, pop-up luggage dividers, and illuminated messages on the side windows for communicating with other drivers. However, some of these design elements are unlikely to make it into production, with the suicide doors and window lighting being the most probable to be eliminated from the final version.
Although Kia has not revealed specific technical details for the EV2, the production version will likely be based on a shorter variant of the E-GMP architecture. It is expected to feature a single electric motor coupled with a smaller battery pack compared to the slightly larger EV3, making it more budget-friendly.
Kia's President and CEO, Ho Sung Song, has assured that the EV2 will provide technology and practicality "beyond its size," contributing to the company's aim of "making electric vehicles truly accessible for everyone."
Pricing and Availability
The EV2 is projected to start at around €30,000 ($31,400) in Europe upon its 2026 release. Kia mentioned that it will also be available in “other regions,” although specifics were not disclosed. However, do not anticipate the EV2 to be offered in North America, in contrast to the EV3 and EV4, which are expected to be available in the U.S. market.
