With only 14 right-hand-drive Prodrive P25s in existence, this vehicle is an ultra-rare collectible.
The WRX STI 22b’s 440 hp engine allows it to accelerate from 0-60 mph in less than 3 seconds.
This particular P25 has only 190 miles on the clock and is expected to sell for over $600,000.
Two and a half years ago, Prodrive embarked on a mission to recreate one of the most iconic Subarus ever, the Impreza WRX STI 22b. Named the P25, this modern homage is limited to just 25 units. Now, one of these rare vehicles is available at auction via Bonhams.
Watch: An In-Depth Examination of Prodrive’s Rally-Inspired P25
This specific P25 is the only one finished in Solar Silver and has a mere 190 miles (306 km) registered. While it is currently in the UK, it can be imported to the US.
This P25 is number 10 out of just 14 right-hand-drive models produced. It comes complete with original documentation and manuals, as well as an optional roll cage that can be fitted if the rear seats are taken out. Originally priced at an astonishing $560,000, it will be intriguing to see if this one reaches even greater heights. Bonhams anticipates the final sale price to be between £475,000 (approximately $598,000 at current exchange rates) and £575,000 ($723,000).
A Modern Interpretation of a Rally Legend
In developing the P25, Prodrive took Subaru’s EJ25 2.5-liter turbo flat-4 engine and made extensive enhancements, including new forged pistons, steel connecting rods, ported cylinder heads, variable cam timing, a Garrett turbocharger, along with an upgraded intercooler and air intake.
The outcome is about 440 hp at 6,000 rpm and 457 lb-ft (619 Nm) of torque at 3,000 rpm. It is paired with a six-speed X-Shift sequential transmission through an AP Racing twin-plate clutch, with power distributed to all four wheels.
Prodrive claims that the P25 can reach 60 mph (96 km/h) in under 3 seconds and offers remarkable handling, thanks to the electronically adjustable center differential and limited-slip differentials both front and rear. Additionally, it features large 380 mm (14.9-inch) front discs with six-piston calipers, and 350 mm (13.7-inch) rear discs with four-piston calipers.
Merging Classic Aesthetics with Modern Technology
Inside, the P25 blends nostalgia with contemporary sophistication. The interior is adorned in black Alcantara, with carbon fiber accents replacing the original plastic trim from the 22B. A modern infotainment system featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto has been incorporated, along with a pair of Sparco SPX seats for a race-inspired ambience.
For those interested in acquiring the ultimate tribute to Subaru’s rally legacy, Bonhams offers this opportunity—assuming, of course, your finances allow it. Check out the listing here.
