Cybertruck Covers is set to launch reusable magnetic wraps available in 12 color choices.
A US-based company has unveiled interchangeable and reusable magnetic wraps for the Cybertruck. The wraps come in various colors, with a complete set priced at $2,000. This innovative solution utilizes the flat steel body panels of the electric vehicle.
The Tesla Cybertruck’s exposed stainless steel exterior certainly catches attention, but many owners wish to personalize their vehicles further. While vinyl wraps have traditionally been utilized for customization, Cybertruck Covers has introduced a more straightforward and adaptable option: reusable magnetic wraps that can be applied or removed in just minutes.
In contrast to standard vinyl wraps, which often necessitate expensive professional installation and can be troublesome to remove, these magnetic covers seem to snap on easily. They can be changed for different colors, reused several times, and installed at home without needing special tools. Essentially, they provide a quick and reversible way to refresh the appearance of the Cybertruck. However, the edges will remain exposed unlike with a conventional wrap.
According to the company’s website, the magnetic wraps will soon be offered in a variety of colors, including White, Steel, Black, Blue, Green, Desert, Gold, Rose Gold, Copper, Orange, Red, and even a Color Shift option. The covers are crafted to fit each body panel of the Cybertruck, with the vehicle’s sharp edges assisting in concealing any gaps around the panels.
While reusable wraps seem like an excellent concept, the practicality of the magnetic solution is likely due to the Cybertruck’s angular design. Its flat, unpainted stainless steel panels provide a smooth surface for the magnetic covers to adhere securely, ensuring they stay in place even at high speeds.
Despite the simplicity of the idea, the company noted that the Cybertruck’s inconsistent panel fit posed a challenge during development. In a statement, the owner of Cybertruck Covers said, “As many already know, the Cybertruck’s body panels are not precise or consistent. Each unit has slight variations, making it hard to produce a one-size-fits-all cover kit.” The corners had to be rounded slightly to allow for some leeway during DIY installation and to prevent air pockets from forming at sharp corners during high wind speeds, which could lead to the covers lifting off.
In addition to a complete set for the entire EV body, Cybertruck owners can choose a single magnetic cover for the front panel. This option can help protect against stone chips and scratches while providing a two-tone effect to the truck’s front.
The product has not yet reached consumers, but Cybertruck Covers has shared prototype images on its social media platforms. A brief video demonstrates the white magnetic film effortlessly rolling onto the front of the truck, showcasing the installer aligning it around the front light bar.
The company has tested the prototype in “cold, rainy, gusty conditions at 80 mph highway speeds,” and reported that the magnetic covers “held flawlessly.”
In terms of pricing, a complete set of magnetic wraps is priced at $2,000, regardless of color, while the front panel protector costs $195. This is significantly cheaper compared to Tesla’s vinyl wraps for the Cybertruck, which begin at $4,500 at select service centers, not to mention PPF wraps that can exceed $7,500.
