Unlike the Macan EV, the electric Cayenne will be offered in both SUV and Coupe variations.

Porsche's Cayenne Electric has been seen undergoing tests featuring a fastback Coupe design. Earlier, spy photographers captured the 2027 EV with a traditional upright SUV body.

Both variants of the Cayenne Electric utilize a lengthened version of the PPE platform.

While we already knew that Porsche's Cayenne is transitioning to electric power, recent spy images confirm that the crossover-style Cayenne Coupe will also be electrified.

In contrast to the smaller Macan Electric, which debuted in 2024 and is only available in a single SUV format, Porsche evidently believes that creating two versions of the Cayenne Electric—reflecting the dual body styles of the internal combustion engine (ICE)-powered Cayenne—is justified.

The roofline slope and rear window angle on the standard Cayenne EV already present a sporty look by SUV standards, but the Coupe variant enhances this design further beyond the B-pillar. The rear-door window is noticeably shallower, and designers have increased the angle of the rear screen.

Eliminating the SUV's roof rails enhances the vehicle's low profile, but the rear lights as well as the lower portion of the hatch and bumper resemble those of earlier, boxier prototypes. The front-end design shows significant influence from the Macan Electric; it features four DRL lozenges positioned above the bumper, giving the appearance of headlights, although the actual headlights are discreetly tucked below in a bumper recess.

Audi employs a similar design strategy in its A6 e-tron and Q6 e-tron, and there are more similarities beyond just looks. Both Audi EVs, along with the Porsche Macan Electric and Cayenne Electric, share the same PPE architecture. However, the Cayenne's wheelbase will be extended beyond the approximately 2.9 m (114 inches) of the Macan and Q6 models. To maintain agility with this added length, Porsche has equipped the prototype with rear-axle steering, which is evident as it maneuvers through a tight curve.

Standard features are expected to include dual motors and all-wheel drive, with some powertrain overlap with the Macan, although the most powerful Cayenne is likely to exceed the 630 hp (639 PS / 470 kW) of the current Macan flagship, the $105,300 Turbo.

Porsche has indicated that the Cayenne Electric is set to make its debut in 2026, and considering the automaker's tendency to stagger model launches for maximum visibility, the Coupe version will likely arrive a few months later as a 2027 model year for North America.

Additionally, there's no cause for concern regarding the combustion-powered Cayenne and Cayenne Coupe, as they are built on an entirely different platform and will continue to be produced well into the 2030s, recognizing that some customers are not yet ready to transition to electric vehicles.
