‘Significantly Improved’: Ram CEO States RHO Outperforms TRX as a Daily Vehicle

The Hellcat celebration is back, and with Tim Kuniskis steering Ram as CEO, the TRX has made its comeback. However, even Kuniskis admits that the TRX isn't the ideal choice for the majority of drivers.

In a personal interview with The Drive, Ram CEO Kuniskis stated, “If you want to drive this every day as your sole truck, the RHO is a significantly better choice. It is an absolutely, way better option.” He was referring to the TRX as the alternative.

“If you plan to purchase a pickup truck and wish to use it for fun or on special occasions, naturally, if price isn't an issue, you would choose the TRX,” Kuniskis added.

Yet, most people don’t reserve their trucks for occasional use, and price does matter. Thus, Kuniskis acknowledged that the RHO is the more suitable option for the majority of buyers.

The revived TRX still features a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine, now producing 777 horsepower and accelerating from 0-60 mph in just 3.5 seconds. It’s the quickest gas-powered pickup truck available, though it also likely has a significant thirst for fuel. The price tag will be substantial—a whopping $102,590 upon its return to dealer lots later this year.

In contrast, the RHO, which is equipped with a high-output inline-six engine, is priced at $75,640 and can achieve 0-60 mph in 4.6 seconds. For those interested in specifics, the RHO generates 540 horsepower and 521 lb-ft of torque.

At the TRX launch earlier this month, Kuniskis remarked, “We started 2025 with a clear rallying cry—three words and three letters: The Last Tenth and LFG. Our initial steps were straightforward: revive the iconic Hemi V8 and reignite the SRT Performance Division. So, would anyone genuinely bet against the TRX making a return? However, just reviving the name isn’t sufficient. Ram set the standard five years ago with 702 horsepower, and that benchmark has been contested. SRT doesn’t limbo; we high-jump—and 721 wasn’t going to be enough. 777 horsepower? That’s the benchmark. It represents more than just power; it indicates a resurgence and a new direction ahead.”

The TRX now stands as the powerhouse, but whether it justifies an additional $26,950 over the RHO, which offers 237 more horsepower but only improves the 0-60 mph time by 1.1 seconds, is a matter of discussion, even from the person selling these vehicles.

Kuniskis’ perspective was clear: “That’s why we have so many options in this industry, right?” mused the Father of the Hellcats.
