Peugeot has unveiled the revised 408 crossover in Brussels.

It showcases a new front design, refreshed wheel options, and an updated instrument cluster.

The E-408 comes equipped with several enhancements, including battery pre-conditioning.

As the Brussels Motor Show progresses, Peugeot has brought forth a familiar model with a sharper look. The updated 408 makes its entrance featuring a sportier, more premium aesthetic along with thoughtfully placed improvements.

The modifications are clear as the fastback crossover appears more aggressive. As part of the redesign, the model now has split lighting units, with an upper portion that boasts three “claws” acting as daytime running lights and animated turn signals.

The headlights, positioned lower down, are “almost invisible” due to being framed by gloss black details, allowing them to blend seamlessly into the background.

Designers have created a more striking grille for the 408, which includes an illuminated logo on higher-end trims. Additionally, the Lion badge conceals a radar sensor behind it, enhancing the vehicle's sleek design.

Other changes include a new bumper and a redesigned central intake, which has shifted from a honeycomb pattern to horizontal lines.

The rear maintains much of its previous design, but now features illuminated “Peugeot” lettering instead of the conventional logo. This marks a first for the brand, accompanied by gloss black accents and updated taillights.

Finally, the model is mounted on refreshed wheels available in sizes from 17 to 20 inches. Customers can also choose from a new color palette that includes a unique shade called Flare Green, which transitions from bright yellow in sunlight to dark green in shadows.

      Subtle Interior Updates

While the exterior design changes are prominent, the interior updates are less noticeable. They include revamped trim and upholstery.

The model now features a new 10-inch digital instrument cluster with improved graphics, along with a familiar 10-inch infotainment system.

An Enhanced Electric Vehicle with Added Functions

The E-408 continues with a 58.2 kWh NMC battery pack, powering an electric motor that generates 210 hp (157 kW / 213 PS) and 253 lb-ft (343 Nm) of torque. This allows the vehicle to achieve a WLTP combined range of 283 miles (456 km).

Although the powertrain remains similar, several new features have been introduced, including a battery pre-conditioning system. In colder conditions, owners can warm the battery with a simple digital command. The GT trim enhances this feature further, as it automatically triggers battery pre-conditioning at the optimal time when navigating to a charging station.

Buyers will also find a new Plug & Charge function and a Vehicle To Load feature that delivers up to 3.5 kW of power. Additionally, there is an “80% charge limit” function for home AC charging.

Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid Options Available

For those not ready to fully switch to electric, a plug-in hybrid variant is available, consisting of a petrol engine rated at 178 hp (132 kW / 180 PS), a 123 hp (92 kW / 125 PS) electric motor, a 14.6 kWh lithium-ion battery, and a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. This combination results in a total output of 237 hp (177 kW / 240 PS) and allows for an electric-only range of up to 53 miles (85 km).

There is also a hybrid option featuring a petrol engine with 143 hp (107 kW / 145 PS), paired with an electrified six-speed dual-clutch transmission, achieving a fuel consumption of 5.0 L/100 km (47 mpg US) in the WLTP combined cycle.
