Dodge Begins Taking Orders for New Charger R/T Priced at $10K Higher Than Previous Hemi | Carscoops

Dodge has started taking orders for the 2026 Charger R/T, which is set to begin production early next year. The starting price is $49,995, and it will be available in both two-door and four-door models, with the latter option adding an extra $2,000 to the cost.

This price represents a notable increase compared to the 2023 Challenger R/T, which began at just below $40,000. However, the 2026 Charger R/T is equipped with a new twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline-six engine that produces 420 hp (313 kW / 426 PS) and 468 lb-ft (634 Nm) of torque. This marks an increase of 45 hp (34 kW / 46 PS) and 58 lb-ft (79 Nm) compared to the previous 5.7-liter Hemi V8.

While some dedicated fans may express dissatisfaction with the absence of a V8, the Hurricane inline-six engine allows the Charger R/T to achieve a 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) acceleration in roughly five seconds. The car is also anticipated to complete a quarter-mile in 13.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 168 mph (270 km/h).

Continuing with its performance focus, the engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission along with a standard all-wheel-drive system. The model also features a limited-slip differential and a rear-wheel-drive mode for added enjoyment.

Although Dodge has not provided a comprehensive list of standard features for the R/T, the company has confirmed that the model will include a Performance Handling package. This package includes Launch Control, a Custom drive mode, a performance suspension, and a Brembo braking system with six-piston front calipers. Inside, it offers sport seats and "Performance Pages" for the infotainment system.

For those who prioritize technology, the R/T Plus trim adds enhanced LED headlights, a larger 16-inch digital instrument cluster, and a head-up display. Additionally, it features a 64-color ambient lighting system and a surround-view camera system.

Customers can also opt for a Blacktop Package, which includes black 20-inch wheels, dark badging, and dark exhaust tips. Other available options comprise a panoramic glass roof and an 18-speaker Alpine premium audio system.
