Ford's Initial Heavy-Duty Electric Truck Replaces Diesel Toughness with Electric Power | Carscoops
Ford Truck has introduced a new electric truck that marks a significant step for the brand toward its next phase in commercial mobility.
The Ford F-Line E makes its debut as an all-electric heavy-duty truck in Europe, featuring a high-spec 6×2 version equipped with four 98 kWh batteries and generating 523 hp. A smaller 4×2 variant comes with three battery packs and a 315 hp electric motor.
Despite scaling back some of its more ambitious electric vehicle targets recently, Ford is continuing to make substantial investments and launch new products.
The F-Line E is Ford Truck's first production battery-powered model, though customers won't find it at their nearby dealerships. Instead, it represents a dedicated all-electric vehicle.
Ford Trucks operates as the heavy-commercial division of Ford Otosan, a longstanding partnership between Ford and Turkey’s Koç Holding. This alliance is responsible for designing, engineering, and manufacturing tractors, construction equipment, and heavy-duty vehicles for markets in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.
Production of the F-Line E will occur under Ford Otosan, with the truck making its debut at the Solutrans fair in France, showcased in both 4×2 and 6×2 configurations.
The largest model features four 98 kWh nickel manganese cobalt batteries, bringing the total to 392 kWh, with a usable capacity of 314 kWh. Ford claims this allows the F-Line E to achieve a driving range of up to 186 miles (300 km).
It is powered by a single electric motor at the rear wheels that delivers 415 hp and 1,010 lb-ft (1,370 Nm) of torque during normal operation, capable of reaching 523 hp and 1,821 lb-ft (2,470 Nm) at peak. The 6×2 version also supports charging speeds of up to 285 kW.
In comparison, the smaller 4×2 model features three battery packs, providing a total of 294 kWh or 235 kWh usable. It is equipped with a less powerful motor, producing 315 hp and a peak performance of 389 hp. Ford states this model can cover up to 155 miles (250 km) on a single charge, with charging speeds capped at 213 kW. Both the 4×2 and 6×2 versions have a top speed limit of 56 miles (90 km/h).
Designed for Versatility
Ford Trucks markets the F-Line E as a versatile platform suitable for delivery fleets, municipal services, and various vocational uses, including waste collection. Its modular design allows for customization for specific roles without extensive reconfiguration.
At the same event, Ford also unveiled the updated F-Max. Significantly larger and powered by a revised 12.7-liter engine for 2025, the F-Max is expected to reduce fuel expenses by 11 percent, indicating that Ford’s commercial lineup is not fully embracing electrification at this stage.
