The Magma GT suggests a potential rival for the Corvette and other mid-engine sports cars, with the possibility of a racing variant as well.
Genesis has revealed the Magma GT concept to celebrate its 10th anniversary.
The mid-rear configuration hints at a V8 engine, although the company has not disclosed specific details.
Luc Donckerwolke described the concept as the culmination of Genesis' performance vision.
Genesis showcased the stunning Magma GT concept at a special event in France, turning heads despite the Los Angeles Auto Show occurring simultaneously. This model celebrates the brand’s decade-long journey and is being presented as “much more than a design study.”
Conceptualized as their “first pure sports car,” the Magma GT features a sleek shark-nosed front end with a prominent splitter. The design also includes a wide intake adorned with a striking G-Matrix pattern.

The signature twin-line headlights of Genesis have been redesigned to include subtle canards at the outer edges, demonstrating thoughtful design that serves a purpose.
As we move towards the back, the concept is equipped with a ventilated clam shell hood, butterfly doors, and blacked-out A-pillars, giving the impression of a wraparound canopy. Additionally, the car boasts streamlined bodywork, flush-mounted door handles, and a “boat-tail cabin” that tapers towards the rear.
This is only a glimpse of the sporty features, as the concept includes front fender vents and robust rear haunches, complemented by lightweight wheels and a high-performance braking system.
The rear end is highlighted by a ventilated fascia with a full-width light bar and illuminated Genesis badging. The design also features a prominent diffuser and a center exhaust divided into three sections.
While Genesis has remained tight-lipped on specifics, they confirmed the concept employs a mid-rear engine layout, presumably involving a V8, although this remains speculative.
Luc Donckerwolke, President and Chief Creative Officer of Genesis, stated, “The Magma GT concept embodies the peak of our performance vision and symbolizes our dedication to authentic motorsport capability." He further described the car as feeling instinctively connected to the driver, remaining composed under pressure, and finely tuned so that every element serves one purpose: making performance effortless.
Is a Production Model Coming?
While the concept may appear as a whimsical creation, Genesis hinted at the possibility of a production model emerging in the future. They emphasized that the vehicle “visually and philosophically encapsulates what Genesis aspires to achieve as it ventures into Motorsport and looks to broaden its high-performance lineup.”
The automaker also stated that the concept “aligns closely with the performance roadmap” introduced in September, which called for a “performance icon, or halo car.” Genesis suggested that this flagship sports car could lead to a racing variant.
