Jeep has begun production of the 2026 Gladiator pickup truck, introducing a new throwback version: the Willys '41. This tribute to the Kaiser Jeep M715 military vehicle series is likely just the first of several nostalgic models Jeep has planned for the Gladiator. Similar past efforts have been made with the Wrangler, which has twelve models lined up for 2026. In contrast, the pickup will only feature this one model for now—and no, it does not come with a Hemi engine.

The design elements are mainly aesthetic but look appealing. The image released by Jeep displays the truck in Willys '41 drab, complete with matching wheels that are part of the package. The announcement does not specify that this is the sole color option, so you may choose a more eye-catching color if you wish to replicate some of the M715s that transitioned into civilian use.

The remaining specifications are fairly straightforward. You’ll receive steel front and rear bumpers, a Mopar triple hoop grille guard, mud-terrain tires, and a tan interior to match the olive drab wheels. Additionally, the hood is taken from the Mojave model as a nice touch.

Despite the absence of significant changes, the '26 Gladiator is not entirely unchanged. Jeep has revamped the door hinge system for easier removal. The announcement lacked specific details; the available photos do not shed additional light, so we may have to wait to see this in person.

Jeep is now allowing customers at the Sport S level to choose upgraded all-terrain tires, and two new colors are being introduced this year: Rein (a purple featured prominently in the 2026 Stellantis lineup) and Goldilocks (not yet revealed; Jeep states it will be available later in the model year).

We haven’t overlooked Jeep's hint about Hemi power under the Gladiator's hood, but we also have not received any official timeline regarding it. Unlike the Wrangler, which has the 392 engine available, the Gladiator would need to be re-engineered for a V8. Given the associated costs, it’s possible a third-party partner might step in to facilitate the work; after all, Jeep may have a limited opportunity to profit under a stricter EPA, and development consumes time and resources that the company might not be able to allocate currently.
