The new Continental GT Supersports replaces its hybrid configuration with a traditional V8, adopting a rear-wheel-drive layout, a more responsive chassis, and updated aerodynamic components.
Bentley has introduced its most driver-centered Continental GT featuring rear-wheel drive.
This Supersports model weighs under two tonnes and is equipped with a twin-turbo V8.
It includes enhanced aerodynamics and a sharper, more agile chassis.
Bentley has officially launched the much-anticipated Continental GT Supersports, which marks a return to an emphasis on pure driving pleasure in the grand tourer series. It entirely eliminates the hybrid system in favor of a twin-turbo V8 and, for the first time in a non-racing Continental, opts for a rear-wheel-drive configuration.
Internally named “Project Mildred,” the initiative began with a dedicated engineering team focused on creating a sub-2,000 kg (4,409 lbs), rear-wheel-drive Continental GT designed purely for driving engagement.
What started as an experimental prototype on the test track quickly proved its worth, persuading Bentley’s management that this purist design warranted production. Its launch also conveniently coincides with the centenary of the original Super Sports model from 1925.
**Powertrain and Performance**
Under the hood resides a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 that operates without any electric assistance, delivering 666 PS (657 hp / 490 kW) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque.
This marks a notable decrease from the “Ultra Performance Hybrid” setup of the Continental GT Speed, which provides 114 hp (116 PS) and 200 Nm (148 lb-ft) more, but the Supersports prioritizes a more engaging, tactile driving experience.
The Supersports accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph) in 3.7 seconds and boasts a top speed of 310 km/h (192 mph). This performance is half a second slower than the Speed, which also offers an additional top speed of 25 km/h (16 mph).
Furthermore, it is slower than the previous W12-powered Supersport generations launched in 2009 and 2017. Nevertheless, it is unlikely that many owners will focus on numbers, as Bentley's goal this time was “maximum driver engagement.”
Power is sent exclusively to the rear wheels via an upgraded ZF eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, featuring an electronic limited-slip differential augmented by torque vectoring and rear-wheel steering. The chassis, suspension, steering, and electronic systems have all been specifically calibrated for improved responsiveness.
**Lightness, Grip, and Noise**
The Supersports is further distinguished by extensively revised aerodynamics, new 22-inch forged wheels created in partnership with Manthey Racing, the largest carbon-ceramic brakes in the world (440 mm in the front), and a louder titanium exhaust from Akrapovic.
For those seeking more grip, the standard Pirelli P-Zero tires can be replaced with optional Trofeo RS performance tires.
By eliminating the hybrid and all-wheel-drive systems, removing the rear seats, reducing insulation, implementing a carbon fiber roof, and scaling back driver-assistance features, the vehicle achieves a curb weight of under two tonnes (4,409 pounds).
This results not only in the lightest Continental GT to date but also the lightest Bentley produced since 1940—though this is notable given the brand's historical preference for heavier vehicles.
**Purposeful Design**
Aesthetically, the Supersports is highlighted by a redesigned front bumper featuring integrated cooling channels and dive planes, matching side skirts, a vented rear bumper, and a ducktail spoiler.
It also boasts a laser-cut mesh grille and a more defined diffuser that incorporates the titanium tailpipes. Bentley indicates this revised aerodynamic package generates an additional 300 kg of downforce compared to the Continental GT Speed, promoting better weight distribution at high speeds.
Inside, the cabin is outfitted with two lower-positioned lightweight sports seats offering 11-way electric adjustments and heating. Behind them is a carbon fiber tub covered in leather.
The sporty ambiance is enhanced by carbon fiber inserts (with aluminum available as an option), the Supersports embroidery, and a numbered plaque on the center console. Buyers will have numerous personalization options through the Mulliner division.
**Limited Availability**
Bentley’s Chairman and CEO, Dr. Frank-Steffen Walliser, characterized the new Supersports as “more than just the most driver-focused Bentley yet,” emphasizing it signals a return to crafting “more extreme cars” that harmonize artistry with raw engagement.
Order placements for the Continental GT Supersports will begin in March 2026, with production anticipated to start in the fourth quarter of that year. Deliveries are expected to commence in early 2027.
Production will be limited to 500 units, distributed across key markets including the UK, Europe, Turkey, the USA, Canada, Australia, New
