The Moab 392 edition is the first of twelve special edition Wranglers that Jeep is set to launch in the upcoming year.

The 2026 Wrangler Moab 392 continues the V8 legacy at a price that is $20,000 less than last year's Rubicon model. It features a 470-hp V8 engine, a two-mode exhaust system, beadlock wheels, and 35-inch off-road tires. Other updates for the Wrangler in 2026 include new hinges that facilitate easier door removal.

In 2026, Jeep will be celebrating 85 years in the adventure industry and kicks off the festivities by promoting a feature that its competitor, the Ford Bronco, lacks: a V8 option. The new Moab 392 edition combines the V8 engine with a selection of advanced trail technology and marks the beginning of a series of special editions Jeep has planned for the upcoming year.

Paying homage to the 60th anniversary of the iconic Jeep Easter Safari in Moab, Utah, the Moab boasts a body-color hardtop, durable rock-protection sill rails, molded-color fender flares, and black tow hooks. Additionally, the interior features heated black Nappa leather seats and a premium Alpine audio system.

The centerpiece of the Moab is the 6.4-liter (392 cu-in) V8 engine, which was expected to be phased out with the 2024 Final Edition. However, strong customer demand led to its return for the 2025 model year, and it remains for 2026, producing 470 hp (350 kW / 476 PS) and 470 lb-ft (637 Nm) of torque.

“Our community expressed their preferences, and we listened,” stated Jeep CEO Bob Broderdor. “The 6.4-liter Hemi V-8 will continue to be a key element in the Jeep lineup.”

The Rubicon, on the other hand, will no longer offer the V8 option. The information provided for the MY26 reveals that the Hemi engine will only be available on the Moab 392, which is priced at $79,995 plus $1,995 for destination, making it $20,000 more affordable than the 2025 Rubicon 392.

It would not be surprising if the V8 appears in some of the other special editions Jeep has planned for its 85th anniversary, potentially including an SRT model. The Moab edition is merely the first among a dozen new Wranglers that will debut as part of the Twelve 4 Twelve initiative, with the next version set to launch on December 12.

The Wrangler’s 392 engine utilizes a dual-mode sports exhaust and a cold-air hood intake equipped with a water separator, along with a ZF 8HP75 eight-speed automatic transmission featuring a 4.56:1 final drive and a 2.72:1 Selec-Trac transfer case.

The 17-inch wheels, capable of beadlock, are fitted with 35-inch off-road tires and can be paired with an optional Warn winch for those who plan to venture deeply into rugged terrains. With Tru-Lok electronic remote-locking differentials at the front and rear, electrically disconnectable sway bars, and an impressive ground clearance of 11.1 inches (282 mm), obstacles should not pose much of a challenge.

In addition to the special editions, there are limited updates to the Wrangler range for 2026. Jeep has introduced a new door hinge system that simplifies and accelerates door removal, as well as new steel bumpers and a Warn winch now available for the two-door Willys, along with several new paint options.

The three engines remain unchanged, with no introductions for either the Hurricane 6 or the four-cylinder Hurricane Turbo 4 in the Wrangler lineup. Customers can choose from the standard 3.6-liter V6 (285 hp / 289 PS), a 2.0-liter inline four producing 270 hp (274 PS), or the Moab-only Hemi. Among these, only the V6 offers a manual transmission option.

There is also no mention of the 4xe hybrid, as nearly 230,000 MY20-25 Wrangler plug-in models have been recalled due to fire risks, and Jeep is still working on a resolution.
