If you have been following the pricing trends of the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 over the years, you might have noticed an interesting pattern. Since the launch of the V8 Wrangler, which saw a rise and then a dip before its return, the price has increased by roughly $25,000 and has remained at that level. This seems excessive, even for avid Jeep fans, making it good news that the price will significantly decrease for the 2026 model year.

The forthcoming Moab 392 is expected to be about $20,000 less expensive than the 2025 Rubicon, which had a starting price of $101,990, according to Jeep's confirmation. The company’s CEO, Bob Broderdorf, stated that the new model will omit certain standard features to lower costs and enable Jeep to sell the 6.4-liter Wrangler at a larger scale. “[We] don’t want to hold engines hostage,” Broderdorf remarked during a briefing.

“A lot of this is about timing,” Broderdorf noted. “Consider how the industry has evolved—credits related to EVs, tariffs, and other changing factors.” When V8s seemed to be fading from Stellantis' line-up, Jeep, along with Dodge and Ram, celebrated the moment with extravagant limited editions and “Last Calls,” some of which turned out to be not so final. With “V8s no longer viewed negatively within the company,” as Dodge CEO Matt McAlear mentioned earlier this year, there appears to be a renewed effort to make these engines available to as many enthusiasts as possible.

This decision was one of the final steps Jeep needed to take to reduce prices across its lineup. Broderdorf hinted during the summer that the Wrangler’s price would decrease in 2026, and the newly introduced 392-equipped Commando, unveiled Tuesday and developed by Fox Factory Vehicles, is priced about $30K lower than the current Rubicon with the same engine.

So, for fans of Hemis and Jeeps, you will soon have the opportunity to purchase a Wrangler with a powerful V8 for around $80K again, at least before additional markups are applied. Unfortunately, it’s hard to imagine that those who recently spent six figures on their Rubicon 392s will be particularly thrilled about this development.
