This unique custom build, inspired by a modern Camaro, honors the earliest recorded Chevelle that came with an LS6 engine.

TransAm Worldwide has recreated the Chevelle using a sixth-generation Chevrolet Camaro.

The Chevelle 70/SS can produce up to 1,500 hp from a 7.4-liter V8 engine.

Only 20 units of the LS6X Limited Edition will be made.

Located in Tallahassee, Florida, Trans Am Worldwide has established itself as a company dedicated to preserving the legacy of the muscle car era. Founded by Tod Warmack, the same team that revived the Firebird and Trans Am is now focusing on another icon of American automotive history, unveiling what they call the Chevelle 70/SS.

The retro-inspired vehicle is based on the chassis of a sixth-generation Chevrolet Camaro, transformed into a modern homage to the iconic 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS. It possesses enough power to rival even today’s hypercars.

Trans Am Worldwide began production of the 70/SS last year, recently completing its most distinctive version to date.

This specific Chevelle 70/SS was commissioned by Earl Newman, who spent $220,000 last year on the 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle ‘Pilot Car’, recognized as the earliest documented LS6-equipped Chevelle. He requested a contemporary version of that vehicle, and they delivered exactly that.

      What Makes This One Unique?

While the company’s tribute to the original Chevelle SS is rooted in a modern Camaro, nearly all visible elements of the donor car have been removed. The design heavily reflects the 70s, with proportions and details that make the transformation feel authentic.

At the front, a new chrome bumper, a custom grille, and round headlights have been introduced. This 70/SS features the same Autumn Gold color as the original Pilot Car, complemented by black racing stripes along the hood.

      Engines For All

Beneath the hood, the 70/SS boasts not only power but also meticulous engineering. Buyers can select from various V8 engines across three trims: Base, 396 Heritage, and 454 LS6X Limited Edition.

The Base model comes with a 5.7-liter (348ci) LT1 V8 generating 425 hp, or a supercharged version offering either 675 or 800 hp. The 396 Heritage model upgrades to a 402ci (6.6-liter) V8, producing 800 hp with a supercharger or 900 hp with twin turbos.

At the top tier is the 454 LS6X Limited Edition, with only 20 units being produced. Three versions of its 7.4-liter V8 are available, all built on the same core design but tuned to vastly different levels.

The first version is a 7.4-liter supercharged V8 generating 900 hp, the second is a twin-turbo version delivering 1,000 hp, and the most extreme variant reaches an impressive 1,500 hp at the flywheel.

Newman opted for the most powerful configuration offering 1,500 hp, giving him greater output than the 1,479 hp Bugatti Chiron, a figure that is as remarkable as it seems.

All body panels have been crafted from lightweight carbon fiber and assembled in-house. The Chevelle 70/SS also features a removable hardtop that can be detached with just a couple of latches, as well as a fully functional folding soft top.

Starting prices for the base model are around $195,000, thus Newman’s build represents the pinnacle in both performance and cost.
