Audi has released new images and videos of the Concept C.

This concept is now street-legal and serves as a preview for a future production electric vehicle (EV).

It is expected to be released in 2027 and will utilize a Porsche platform.

The Audi Concept C was a standout attraction at the IAA Mobility Show in Munich, notable not only for its striking design but also for what it signifies—a sneak peek at a production model set for 2027, and an introduction to the brand's upcoming design language.

Following its debut, Audi published additional images and videos of the vehicle in motion. While many concept cars typically remain static displays or move slowly, powered by small electric motors for demonstrations, Audi's engineers took it a step further.

      Street-Legal Achievement

The Concept C has received official road approval, as indicated by its German license plates, marking a significant milestone that highlights the prototype’s readiness for real-world driving.

Acquiring this certification was a challenging task, as it required meeting a complex array of technical standards and safety regulations.

      Design Elements

The design incorporates features from various Audi icons: the shape of the TT, the supercar profile of the R8, and the sleek lines of the Auto Union Type C racer. At the front, slender horizontal LEDs frame a new version of Audi’s grille, complemented by upright air intakes that add visual depth.

The side profile is smooth and taut, with proportions leaning towards the sporty and exotic. The rear slopes downward, swapping out the back glass for louvers and showcasing slim LED taillights above a prominent diffuser.

Audi describes this concept as a glimpse of a future production model, described as “an astonishing all-electric sports car with remarkable driving dynamics that emphasizes design, speed, and emotion.”

Company representatives have indicated that much of the Concept C’s design will transition to the production model, although some specifics are likely to change. Audi has also confirmed that the future model will retain the concept’s removable roof, allowing it to function as both a coupe and a roadster.

      Interior Design Innovation

The Concept C also presents a new take on interior design, merging advanced technology with a clean, minimalist aesthetic. A 10.4-inch infotainment display integrates neatly into the dashboard and is paired with a digital instrument cluster, contributing to the cabin's uncluttered appearance.

Audi has included several haptic controls beneath the central touchscreen and a touch-sensitive button for door openings.

Despite recent feedback from VW regarding similar interfaces and a return to traditional physical buttons, it seems the brand has not adjusted its strategy. Nevertheless, being a concept provides leeway to determine if these features will make it to the production model.

      Powertrain Details

While Audi has not provided extensive specifications, it has confirmed the presence of a rear-mounted electric motor and batteries located behind the seats. This arrangement allows for a significantly lower seating position compared to EVs with underfloor battery configurations, achieving a weight distribution similar to that of mid-engine sports cars.

The production model is anticipated to share its foundation with the forthcoming Porsche 718 Cayman and Boxster. Reports suggest that Porsche will offer internal combustion options for high-performance models, while Audi intends to remain entirely electric.

The lineup may feature a rear-wheel-drive version, as well as Quattro models with dual-motor setups for enhanced power and traction.
