These renderings transform a divisive luxury sedan into something visually captivating, even if BMW might never produce such a model.

Digital artists are conceptualizing a genuine BMW M7 with bold design elements.

Currently, BMW is working on a Neuer Klasse refresh for the 7-Series.

Similar visualizations have also been created for a potential X7 M SUV.

BMW’s hesitance to manufacture an M7 has always been somewhat perplexing. For a brand that typically embraces high performance, the reluctance to badge the 7-Series with its renowned M designation seems unusually cautious, although not entirely unprecedented. Recall the E31 8-Series? At that time, Munich never authorized an M8.

Nonetheless, that decision has left BMW without a direct competitor to the Mercedes-AMG S 63, and in our opinion, the automotive world could certainly benefit from another M model (or two).

Over time, many automotive designers have envisioned what an M7 could appear like, and these latest renderings from Kelsonik are amongst the most convincing we have encountered. Considering the contentious design of the current 7-Series, an M transformation would only enhance it, and the artistic adjustments showcased here make the large luxury sedan significantly more attractive.

The most notable changes have been made to the vehicle's front section. While it maintains a pair of large kidney grilles, they are smaller compared to those on the standard 7-Series models and feature a blacked-out finish, akin to the M5.

Moreover, the unusual split headlights of the regular model have been substituted with a more streamlined, cohesive set that connects with the grilles visually. An updated bumper includes larger air intakes and a new lower grille, giving the front end a much more commanding presence.

In terms of the rest of the car, Kelsonik introduces subtle modifications that make an impact, including signature M wheels, black window trim, and a reconfigured rear section. The taillights, reminiscent of the current M3, are combined with a subtle lip spoiler and a robust bumper and diffuser, all finished in black to unify the design.

Although the idea of an M7 is enticing, we aren’t optimistic about BMW ever introducing one. Even if they did, it would likely not resemble this interpretation, considering the 7-Series is currently undergoing updates with the Neue Klasse design language and, from recent prototypes, will keep the current model’s split headlights.

Kelsonik also envisioned what an M version of the upcoming BMW X7 might look like, applying a similar design strategy. The render eliminates the SUV’s divided headlights in favor of conventional units that are paired with subtly modified kidney grilles and an updated bumper.

Despite these appealing visuals, BMW has no intentions of producing a full-fledged M variant of the next X7. Instead, future buyers will have to settle for an M70 version of the upcoming electric iX7, which is expected to offer over 800 horsepower. While still not a true M, it's still impressive, if you ask us. Furthermore, Alpina’s interpretation of the SUV is also in development and will likely raise that power figure even higher, providing a more exclusive take on the large luxury SUV.
