The latest 911 restomod from Theon Design combines classic aesthetics with contemporary power, advanced carbon fiber craftsmanship, and an impressive sound.
Theon Design’s Porsche 911 restomod features a 407 hp flat-six engine with individual throttle bodies.
The power is delivered to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox.
Lightweight carbon fiber body panels significantly reduce weight compared to a modern GT3.
Though Singer initiated the modern Porsche 911 restomod trend, it has gained popularity, encouraging numerous builders to create their own interpretations of the timeless design. Theon Design, a prominent name in the UK, has produced its newest commission after more than 18 months of work, which could be its most remarkable project yet.
**A True Gem of an Air-Cooled Flat-Six**
The engine is undoubtedly the centerpiece of this restomod. It features a naturally aspirated, air-cooled, 3.8-liter flat-six with independent throttle bodies, generating 407 hp at 7,600 rpm and 293 lb-ft (397 Nm) of torque. Although the 4.0-liter engine found in the new 911 GT3 provides a 100 hp advantage, Theon’s model weighs just 1,150 kg (2,535 lbs), making it 312 kg (688 lbs) lighter, which promises an exhilarating driving experience.
Additionally, Theon Design has equipped the car with an adjustable exhaust system, enabling quiet operation in urban settings while allowing it to roar on open roads. Power transmission to the rear wheels occurs through a five-speed manual transmission.
There are numerous appealing features as well. The classic 911 is fitted with a TracTive semi-active suspension tailored to handle even the roughest roads in the UK, complete with a lift kit suitable for steep driveways and speed bumps. Braking performance is sourced from the brakes of a 993-generation 911 Carrera RS and is mounted on custom 18-inch wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport tires.
**Extensive Upgrades**
As with other projects from Theon Design, the donor vehicle was stripped down to bare metal, with the structure reinforced through new seam welding. It has been outfitted with lightweight carbon fiber components painted in Ice Green Metallic, accented by Polished Eclipse Chrome details.
The interior is as artistically crafted as the exterior, showcasing features like Recaro CS seats with carbon fiber backs, gray Alcantara, bespoke gauges, and a concealed Alpine head unit equipped with six Focal speakers.
**The Cost of Joy**
Acquiring a Porsche from Theon necessitates a substantial financial commitment, with commissions starting at £420,000 ($564,000) for coupe models like this one, not including the price of the donor vehicle. After all, a 911 restomod of this caliber doesn’t come at a bargain, does it?
