Although the entry price is high, the limited-production RTR Spec 5 Mustang offers impressive performance.

RTR has introduced the Spec 5 Mustang as a widebody halo model in its lineup.

The supercharged 5.0-liter V8 engine delivers more than 870 horsepower.

Pricing starts at $159,999 and includes a basic Mustang GT model.

RTR has launched the Spec 5 Mustang, advertised as their flagship vehicle. This is somewhat understated, as the starting price of $159,999 is significantly higher—by $95,619—than the 2026 Mustang Dark Horse, which is priced at $64,380.

This model is built on the Mustang GT with the Performance Package, utilizing the well-known 5.0-liter V8 engine. It is also equipped with a 3.0-liter Whipple supercharger, an HD Race Intercooler system, and a Borla cat-back exhaust.

Due to these enhancements, the output reaches over 870 hp (649 kW / 882 PS) and 660 lb-ft (894 Nm) of torque. This represents an increase of 390 hp (291 kW / 395 PS) and 245 lb-ft (332 Nm) from the GT and even exceeds Ford’s own performance-focused GTD, which delivers 815 hp, by 55 hp. While RTR has not disclosed the exact performance figures, the engine can be mated to either a six-speed manual or a ten-speed automatic transmission.

In terms of performance, the coupe features an RTR tactical performance suspension system with proprietary 30-way adjustable front coilovers and rear dampers, height-adjustable springs, and adjustable front and rear sway bars. The car is also outfitted with 20-inch forged aluminum wheels shod in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires, supported by a Brembo braking system featuring two-piece rotors and six-piston calipers at the front.

Aesthetically, the model is enhanced with a widebody kit that incorporates unique fenders, bumper extensions, and composite rocker panels. Additional design elements include a ventilated hood, an illuminated grille, and special graphics. The Mustang also boasts several carbon fiber components, such as the front splitter, side skirts, and "wake towers."

Other notable features include a large rear spoiler and a revamped fuel door that opens upwards. RTR expressed pride in this detail, claiming it reflects their “relentless commitment to detail,” with “billet aluminum arms, a nylon laser-printed bucket, and an integrated water drainage system.”

The company shared limited images of the interior, which features RTR-branded Recaro sport seats with cool grey leather bolsters and black suede interiors. The cabin is complemented by RTR floor mats, a teardrop-shaped shifter, and a serialized dash plaque engraved with Vaughn Gittin Jr.’s signature.

Production of the Spec 5 will be limited to 50 units for the 2026 model year, and the substantial price includes the base Mustang GT. Despite the exorbitant cost, this model is priced over $10,000 less than the 830 hp (619 kW / 842 PS) Shelby Super Snake.
