Forza Horizon 6 Brings Players to Locations They’ve Long Desired Since the Original Game | Carscoops
The forthcoming game will enhance the celebration of Japanese automotive culture and features improved graphics.
Forza Horizon 6 is set to release in 2026, five years following the previous version.
The game’s setting includes both urban and rural landscapes in Japan, along with seasonal changes.
Players can anticipate an extensive variety of vehicles and the most intricately designed world created to date.
The year 2026 is gearing up to be significant for automotive-themed video games, with Grand Theft Auto VI set to release alongside Forza Horizon 6, which was revealed at the Xbox Tokyo Game Show—five years after Forza Horizon 5.
While the last game was centered on Mexico, the new installment will showcase the "stunning landscapes of Japan." The teaser video offers a fleeting look at this, concluding with an image of Mount Fuji and cherry blossoms swaying in the breeze.
In a conversation with Xbox Wire, Playground Games’ art director Don Arceta and cultural consultant Kyoko Yamashita shared insights on the game. Arceta mentioned, “Japan has been a top request from Horizon fans, so we’re thrilled to finally bring this much-anticipated location to players.” He added, “Japan’s unique culture—from automobiles to music and fashion—makes it ideal for the next Horizon environment.”
The two revealed that the open-world racing game will incorporate both natural and urban landscapes, featuring everything from the “neon lights and towering structures of Tokyo City—one of our most intricate environments yet—to the tranquility and scenic beauty of Japan’s rural and mountainous regions.” Arceta also noted that the Forza Horizon 5 Hot Wheels DLC assisted in creating the “elevated roads of Tokyo City in FH6.”
While specifics remain limited, they hinted at a “wide array of cars that players will recognize and cherish.” Arceta emphasized Japan's distinct car culture and expressed excitement about exploring it within the game, suggesting the inclusion of anything from kei cars and vans to drifting.
Currently, many questions remain unanswered, but Forza Horizon 6 will be available on the Xbox Series X and S, as well as on Xbox for PC, Xbox Cloud, and Xbox Play Anywhere. The game will also be accessible on Steam and Game Pass, with a PlayStation 5 release occurring sometime after its initial launch.
