This is a 1993 Lamborghini Diablo Evolution GTR, one of only ten ever produced. Instead of being a factory model, it was commissioned by a dealer and features unique coachbuilding. It is powered by a 5.7-liter V12 engine producing 485 horsepower directed solely to the rear wheels.
Supercars typically cater to the wealthy elite and those who are deep in credit card debt, but for that demographic, the market offers many choices. Nonetheless, individuals investing in the latest Ferrari Testarossa, Porsche 911 GT3, or Lamborghini Temerario might be likened to the "self-indulgent wieners" as described by Memphis Raines from Gone In 60 Seconds.
However, the person who acquires this limited Lamborghini Diablo Evolution GTR would belong to a different category. Raines might refer to them as a connoisseur, and that would be accurate.
The Diablo was never one to blend in. Despite the daunting task of succeeding the Countach, it transcended mere sequel status, becoming a true masterpiece and one of the few production cars of its era to exceed 200 mph (320 km/h). Its success led to various special editions, prompting one dealer in Switzerland to create several unique models, including this Evolution GTR.
A Swiss Touch
Roland Affolter served as Lamborghini’s official importer in Switzerland. He commissioned this car along with nine others, all bearing the Evolution GTR name and characteristics. This model is adorned in Viola paint, features a blue Alcantara interior, and has 21,017 miles (33,824 km) on the odometer. What differentiates the Evolution GTR from a standard Diablo? While the engine remains the same, that shouldn’t deter enthusiasts.

It retains the classic 5.7-liter V12 that originally produced 485 horsepower (356 kW) and 428 lb-ft (582 Nm) of torque. This power is delivered exclusively to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission. The drivetrain is renowned for aligning with the prestige signified by the badge on this vehicle. However, it’s the distinctive exterior and interior that truly make the EVO GTR stand out.
Designed for Performance
Affolter concentrated on enhancing aerodynamics, which is evident from every perspective. The sharper lines of the regular Diablo are softened on this model. This is immediately noticeable in the headlight design, where the pop-up units have been replaced with rounded square housings, and the fog lights are circular instead of square. Numerous other modifications abound.
The EVO GTR features a roof scoop and a large cooling duct integrated into the hood. The sides boast substantial, curvy vents behind the front wheels and a streamlined air intake behind the door. The rear bumper has a smoother wraparound design and includes new grilles with lighting components positioned behind the upper section. The oversized spoiler can be adjusted to three different positions and the wheels are unique three-piece designs, further distinguishing this model from other Diablos.
A Rare Find
This exclusive package is set for auction on November 1 at Broad Arrow Auction’s Zurich event, with expectations of fetching nearly $600,000. Considering the rising popularity of rarer Diablos, it wouldn’t be surprising if the final amount exceeded that estimate.
If you have half a million dollars to spare and a penchant for extravagant purple V12 performance, this Diablo Evolution GTR is poised to make your driveway appear rather mundane. Check out the listing here before someone else claims this coveted piece.
