Opel’s electric SUV has sacrificed cargo space for a complete coffee setup, which includes grinders, machines, and a steamer integrated into the trunk.

The Opel Mokka Coffee is a unique, one-off model featuring a built-in barista station. The cargo area is equipped with dual coffee machines, a grinder, a steamer, and a fridge. It is derived from the electric variant that offers 154 hp and a range of up to 250 miles.

Did you know that October 1 is International Coffee Day? You might not have, but Stellantis has ensured you won't forget it. What better way to commemorate it than with a special edition of the Opel Mokka Electric? The name itself is fitting, as "Mokka" means mocha in German, a term that originates from the Yemeni port of Mocha, which was once a key hub in the global coffee trade.

From its exterior, the Mokka appears standard with just a small coffee emblem at the rear. However, when you open the tailgate, you discover two coffee machines—one for ground beans and another for pods. The setup also features a coffee grinder, a milk steamer, a knock box, and a fridge, all neatly integrated into custom drawers and cupboards adorned with Opel branding.

Unfortunately, this arrangement leaves no room for luggage, and the company has even placed a coffee icon in the 10-inch infotainment system's menu.

Opel claims that the Mokka Coffee is intended to enhance breaks during holiday travels or everyday stress. Since it’s an EV, access to this equipment can help pass the time during charging stops.

While the automaker could have fitted this coffee-making gear in the performance-oriented Opel Mokka GSE with 278 hp (207 kW / 282 PS) and a sportier chassis, they opted for the standard Mokka Electric instead, aimed at relaxation, with a power output of 154 hp (115 kW / 156 PS). Like many vehicles in the Stellantis lineup, the subcompact SUV is powered by a 54 kWh battery pack, allowing for a WLTP range of 402 km (250 miles) between charges.

Interestingly, this isn't Stellantis's first reimagining of the Opel Mokka Electric's cargo area. In 2023, the company introduced an LCV version of the small SUV featuring two seats and a racking system tailored for professionals.

As you might expect, the Opel Mokka “Coffee” will be a one-off creation. However, if you believe you could use something like this in your life, you might consider a similar DIY conversion with any vehicle that has a sufficiently large boot.
