China's Dreame has unveiled a new render of its Bugatti-inspired electric vehicle ahead of its CES debut.
The four-door sedan is expected to be presented in concept form at CES in Las Vegas this coming January.
The sister brand, Starry Sky Auto, is working on SUVs influenced by Rolls-Royce and Bentley.
Chinese vacuum manufacturer Dreame Technology is intensifying its commitment to produce an electric vehicle that closely resembles a Bugatti Chiron. The company's automotive division, Dreame Auto, has just revealed another image of its vehicle, which, similar to the few renders shown last week, appears to have been created partly using AI.
Moreover, insiders have disclosed some technical specifications and information about a second luxury brand aiming to compete with Bentley and Rolls-Royce.
Identifying the Variations
The latest single image, still a rendering and not a photograph of an actual vehicle, depicts the car, which is apparently (and unapologetically) codenamed “Dreame Bugatti,” with its doors open. We previously knew it had four doors, but we can now see that the rear pair are hinge-mounted at the back, all four open upwards like a McLaren's, and there’s no B-pillar.
A close comparison of the old and new images reveals some detailed differences. The new images of the white model feature two vents on the hood, one behind each headlight, and the grille is slightly wider and less rounded, giving it a less Bugatti-like appearance and more of a Jaguar look. However, these modifications are unlikely to appease Bugatti. The company did not respond to our request for comment last week, but we doubt they are pleased with the developments.
Both fully electric and range-extender hybrid versions will be available when production begins in 2027 at a facility next to Tesla’s Gigafactory in Berlin, according to Weixin, which cites an insider from the company. However, we will have our first physical glimpse of the vehicle in January when Dreame presents a pre-production prototype at CES – indeed, that CES in Las Vegas.
Second Luxury Brand Inspired by Bentley and Rolls-Royce
The company's automotive dreams extend beyond just a Bugatti replica. The same insider revealed to the Chinese outlet that Dreame Tech is dividing its automotive operations into two branches. Dream Auto will concentrate solely on producing the Chiron-like model, which founder Yu Hao envisions will set new speed records for hypercars. The other branch, which was disclosed today, is Starry Sky Auto, which is currently benchmarking vehicles such as the Rolls Royce Cullinan and various Bentley models in preparation for developing four vehicles that will share common components.
According to a recent internal communication meeting, the Chinese outlet reported that the company's founder instructed his team that Starry Sky Auto's premium models will have wheelbases measuring 3.2 meters (126 inches) and 3.3 meters (130 inches). He also specified that the first should be larger in length, width, and height than the Li Auto L9 and M9, while the latter should have a strong and commanding appearance, with dimensions not smaller than those of the Cullinan.
The report also stated that Dreame Auto has "assembled a cross-industry team comprising R&D, manufacturing, and quality control experts, including key R&D personnel from its original smart hardware business and professionals from traditional vehicle manufacturing."
Balancing Cost with Aspiration
With prices reportedly between $38,000 and $83,000, Starry Sky Auto's models will not compete directly with Bentley and Rolls Royce, but are designed to rival electric vehicles from smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi, which Dreame aims to emulate as it transitions from electronics giant to car manufacturer.
