An Australian advertisement for a French crossover was displayed to American viewers for no clear reason.

Earlier today, it was reported that a commercial for the Renault Koleos aired during a Texas Rangers baseball game on Tuesday.

The ad, which appears to have been misconfigured for the broadcast, promoted a vehicle that is not available in the U.S. It's uncertain how this ad made it on air, but it originated from Australia.

While baseball may be quintessentially American, the Texas Rangers game took an unexpected French twist. During the fifth inning, viewers of the MLB.TV stream on the Rangers Sports Network were treated to a commercial for the Renault Koleos.

Although car ads are commonly linked with sports, this particular advertisement, seemingly misplaced, caught my attention. It aired after a Swiffer commercial and probably didn’t attract much notice, as it was sourced from Australia.

Consequently, the ad was in English, showcasing the crossover with a starting price of $36,990. The Australian accent was noticeable, yet it seems these aspects were sufficient for the commercial to be broadcasted. It remains unclear how such a mistake occurred, but it’s possible that someone from the network or advertising team overlooked the fact that Renault exited the U.S. market in 1987.

Thanks to this apparent oversight, Rangers fans were able to see a commercial promoting the 2025 Koleos Evolution 4×2. The advertisement highlighted offers of no down payment and interest rates as low as 1.99%. Renault Australia also emphasized the crossover's seven-year "unlimited kilometre" warranty.

This accidental airing is certainly a unique occurrence and not something one encounters often. Yet, with numerous car advertisements during games, it's easy to see how a mix-up like this could happen.

Typically, the Rangers' games feature ads from brands like Audi, Chevrolet, Ford, Kia, Toyota, and Honda. For those unfamiliar with vehicles, a Renault Koleos advertisement may not seem out of place.

[Update: The same advertisement was broadcast again during Wednesday's stream.]
