The automaker will reach out directly to customers while addressing an unspecified issue.

Suzuki has paused sales of the Jimny XL in Australia due to a non-safety-related problem.

Dealers have been directed to cancel orders and refund deposits to those affected.

Earlier this year, safety regulations led Suzuki to cease sales of the three-door model domestically.

A setback has temporarily halted the Suzuki Jimny XL in Australia, with dealers instructed to cancel orders and issue refunds following a stop-sale notice. While this alone will frustrate customers, they are likely to be even more disheartened to learn that no detailed explanation has been provided for the stop-sale, aside from it being linked to an "unspecified problem."

The five-door Jimny XL, part of the well-liked off-roading lineup, is under review in India, where it is manufactured. The Australian division of the company has not received any information regarding the issue, except that it is not related to safety, meaning current owners can continue driving their vehicles.

Suzuki Australia's general manager, Michael Pachota, told Drive.com.au, “Given the uncertainty about the timeline for resolution and based on our past experiences with similar situations, we advise dealers to cancel current Jimny XL orders and refund customer deposits where applicable.”

He further mentioned, “At this moment, this is the most transparent and customer-focused approach and the best course of action for our customers awaiting delivery of their new Jimny XL.”

      What Customers Can Do

Customers can choose to stay in line for delivery if they prefer. Suzuki has requested dealers to provide details of these loyal customers to facilitate sharing additional information directly with them. There has been no update from Suzuki in Japan regarding its investigation, nor a timeline for when the issue might be resolved.

The Jimny XL is currently the sole variant of the small off-roader available locally. This situation arose because Suzuki was compelled to halt sales of the three-door model in March of this year, as it lacks the required autonomous emergency braking technology. An update is expected in early 2026, which will enable Suzuki Australia to resume sales of the three-door version.
