A handcrafted all-wheel-drive exotic featuring a transparent spine and twin-charged engine is making waves at Monterey Car Week.

The AWD EVO38 showcases styling inspired by Lancia and delivers a performance of 600 hp from its twin-charged engine. The cabin includes a glass tunnel that highlights the central driveshaft, which is adorned in blue with red accents. Kimera Automobili has stated that the majority of the 38 units planned for production have already been sold.

In recent years, few small manufacturers have garnered as much attention as Kimera Automobili. Renowned for reinventing the iconic Lancia 037, the company first presented the EVO37 and later developed it into the EVO38 featuring all-wheel drive. The latest model, recently completed and unveiled at Monterey Car Week in California, brilliantly fuses Italian rally heritage with contemporary design.

This particular EVO38 is the second of the 38 cars set for production and might be Kimera’s most remarkable creation to date. It boasts a breathtaking blue finish and resembles a work of art on wheels. From the sleek LED headlights to the classic Lancia-style front grille and the prominent rear spoiler, the EVO38 exemplifies what Lancia should be producing, in contrast to the uninspiring Ypsilon.

Under the hood, power is generated by a 2.2-liter four-cylinder engine that is both supercharged and turbocharged, enabling it to produce 600 hp. The vehicle is also equipped with a 48-volt electronic system. Unlike the rear-wheel-drive EVO37, the EVO38 delivers power to all four wheels.

      An Interior Masterpiece

While the exterior and engine compartment are visually impressive, the interior might be the most noteworthy feature. A glass tunnel runs through the center of the cabin, providing a clear view of the central driveshaft, which is finished in blue with red accents.

The EVO38 features a gear lever made entirely from billet aluminum, and a hydraulic handbrake adds to its rally-car feel. It also includes a selectable torque splitter, allowing drivers to determine how much power is distributed to the front and rear axles.

Inside the cabin, there are materials such as Alcantara, milled aluminum, and ample carbon fiber. Drivers have the capability to adjust various settings including engine maps, power delivery, suspension, traction control, and ABS functions.

      A Dramatic Exhaust System

The exhaust system is designed for both performance and dramatic effect. Two main tailpipes are integrated into the rear diffuser, while a larger central pipe is positioned in the rear grille. This central pipe is located directly behind the turbocharger and can be opened at the push of a button to enhance the sound of the four-cylinder engine.

Kimera has not yet revealed the pricing for the EVO38. However, considering the EVO37 starts at around €480,000 (approximately $558,000), it is likely that this upgraded model will come at a higher cost. According to the company, most of the 38 units planned are already reserved, highlighting the allure of this modern tribute to a motorsport legend.
