A Corvette Z06 with only 14 miles on it recently sold for nearly $30K less than its MSRP on Bring A Trailer.
This vehicle included several sought-after features, including the rare 70th Anniversary package.
The significant depreciation seems to stem from various factors.
A flawless 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 coupe, with a mere 14 miles on the odometer, has experienced a dramatic decline in its resale value. Listed on Bring a Trailer, this 70th Anniversary Edition 3LZ Z07 model comes fully equipped with options. Initially priced at an MSRP of $161,675, it eventually sold for just $133,000 after bidding concluded. That’s nearly $30,000 under the MSRP.

This particular model seemed to have everything in its favor. The 3LZ is the most premium trim offered for the Corvette. The Z07 package incorporates multiple track-focused features to enhance performance further. The 70th Anniversary edition includes exclusive White Pearl Metallic paint, distinctive badging, carbon flash wheels, and a two-tone ceramic interior.
Impressive Specs, Underwhelming Bids
Beneath the surface, this Z06 boasts GM’s powerful 5.5-liter flat-plane crank V8, producing 670 hp (500 kW) and 460 lb-ft (624 Nm) of torque. This engine can rev up to 8,600 rpm and can launch the Corvette from 0 to 60 mph in approximately 2.6 seconds. However, it’s likely that this car has never achieved those performance milestones during its brief 14-mile existence.
Nonetheless, the combination of features, packages, and low mileage typically suggests a higher auction price. However, that wasn’t the case here, as only ten bids in the final hours of the auction increased the price from $115,600 to its final bid of $133,000.

From Hot Commodity to Cold Reality
Just a year ago, these vehicles were being sold for significant sums. Dealers were eagerly requesting tens of thousands above GM's suggested retail price. Now, those who invested in these cars likely feel disappointed. What changed in that time? Several factors.
Primarily, Chevrolet has not restricted production as some other brands do. They have publicly stated they will continue to manufacture as many as possible, resulting in sustained high supply.
Moreover, the launch of the ZR1 and ZR1X makes the Z06 appear almost ordinary, despite achieving a remarkable 7:11 lap time at the Nurburgring. The lesson for potential buyers is clear: certain performance cars are meant to be driven rather than stored in hopes of realizing a future profit.
Enjoy the Drive, Not the Speculation
One participant in the auction commented, “These are not investment-grade vehicles by any means in the current market. However, circumstances can change. The real investment lies in the enjoyment they provide. When I had the chance to drive one, I focused almost entirely on the sound and the view ahead.” We couldn't agree more.
This viewpoint feels particularly significant today. For performance cars like the Z06, true value may derive less from resale opportunities and more from the experience of actually driving them.
