Ferrari is finalizing the successor to the SF90 Stradale.

A prototype has recently been spotted with an updated yet recognizable design.

The vehicle is expected to feature a revised plug-in hybrid system that exceeds 1,000 hp.

The Ferrari SF90 Stradale bowed out nearly a year ago, but it's far from gone. In fact, the company is developing an updated model referred to as the F173M.

A recently spotted prototype undergoing tests suggests an evolutionary design for the car. While the final appearance is masked by boxy camouflage, we can discern a new front end featuring a rectangular central intake along with a prominent splitter that emphasizes a smoother design.

Further details are difficult to identify, but the car seems to maintain a protruding nose, likely accompanied by updated headlights.

The profile largely appears unchanged, while the rear showcases subtle updates. Notably, there’s a revised rear fascia with new vents positioned between the exhaust tips. We also glimpse new taillights, although these may just be temporary designs.

Spy photographers couldn't capture the interior, but we anticipate a new steering wheel and updated controls. These may come alongside a reworked dashboard and a refreshed digital instrument cluster.

Power will come from an improved plug-in hybrid powertrain. In the SF90, the setup included a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8, three electric motors, and a 7.9 kWh battery pack. This combination produced a total output of 986 hp (736 kW / 1,000 PS) and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) of torque. Thanks to these impressive specifications, the coupe could accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 2.5 seconds, reach a top speed of 211 mph (340 km/h), and travel 16 miles (25 km) on electric power alone.

The successor to the SF90 will certainly enhance these figures, though the extent of the improvements remains uncertain.
